Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe main restaurant buffet wasn't as good as I expected and as a solo traveller, eating in the A la carte wasn't the ideal solution( if you could get a table) The buffet wasn't good enough for the rest of the hotel.
The rooms and grounds are lovely and well maintained.

United KingdomSlightly lacking in sun bed availability, and occasionally long ish queues for drinks. Only minor things.
Great location on the beach, with only a short 25 min drive from Heraklion airport. Very friendly and attentive staff, good selection of drinks and food at the various buffets. Housekeeping very good, regularly cleaning rooms and changing mini-bar and towels for you. Very large resort with enough to occupy, and good access to excursions if wanted. Spa area and gym also very good.

United KingdomSome of the food was quite repetitive, and I have to say the lady nearest to the entrance downstairs in the shop was awful and very unwelcoming. Complete disappointment to my expectations. Also the deep massage was not very deep.
I like as a lone traveller, I felt very welcome and comfortable. I thank Royal Mare for putting me in the most beautiful room with my own pool. Thank you

NetherlandsThe sand on the beach wasn't nice to walk on (we do have a preference for softer sand). There are also very few signs about ingredients (for allergies / dietary restrictions). Our room didn't have any plugs by the bed, but we saw that other rooms do have them!
The staff were amazing, the food (especially in the restaurants) was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxed, calm and luxurious. Even the few children you met around the hotel were calm. We were surprised by the number of pregnant women and their partners enjoying their babymoon, but fully understandable because this is the place to go to relax! We did go just at the beginning of the season, so nothing was busy, and there was more than enough space everywhere!

United KingdomWe didn't like the bed in the room and as far as i know this is the bed sort used in all if not most rooms. For my husband and I, it was very weird how the hotel went far and beyond in some aspects of the hotel like design and location, parking, reception area, pools, etc. but didn't put that much focus on the room itself. The bed is the most important thing in a room and a stay and it must be comfortable. Pillows were also not great, and the weirdest thing ever was the fact that the beds were twin beds stuck together instead of an actual double bed. I seriously don't understand why they didn't invest in good beds. It was also annoying that there are no electricity plugs (to charge the phones especially) next to the bed tables or even in the bathroom to use my hair straightener. There was only 2 plug areas, one on the floor area and one at the desk/mirror area.
Loved the pools, the proximity to the sea. Loved the breakfast buffet and the freshness of the ingredients. We really couldn't stop eating almost the same thing every day for 10 days which is veggies and feta, and the figs were excellent. Also loved the pastries they offered. There was this fried pastry roll stuffed with salty cheese that was to-die-for. Staff really nice and smiling all the time. Loved that our room had a semi private pool and a pool and sea view. It was really beautiful on the balcony to watch the sunsire and sunset. All in all it was an amazing stay.

IsraelFew things we were disappointed of were the Candia Rest. It didnt have alot on the manu. And the things there were abit pricy. Also there is a private beach. But it was a bit small and it was full of rocks in the water so you cant realy stand in shallow water only if you swim farther from shore. If you have Thalassophobia it doesnt help you overcome it. Believe me. Also The Spa pricea were too expensive and when we went there it was Open but no one was at the front desk to guide us. We waited like 15 min for someone to come and we shouted to inform we are there and that we are waiting. But the girls stayed in one room and kept on talking. Which gave us the feeling of being ignored.
A beautiful Resort the staff was so helpfull and so nice There is a Mini Market that has everything you could think about Where you can buy snacks and drinks of any kind. Also near the Mini Market there was a small buffet where you pay 20€ and you can eat and refill as much as you want. Also they Have a Asian Restaurant which we ate there alot it was so good. Highly recommended

PolandIf you plan to stay at the resort 24/7, there is not much to do after dinner. There is only one bar over the restaurant, but it's usually full. If possible, it is recommended to rent a car to discover the broader area, otherwise it can be a bit boring. It is a very quiet place, so maybe ideal for those who need this type of vacation. Sometimes we couldn't find available sunbeds, as people place their towels very early in the morning.
We were upgraded to a room with private pool, which was amazing! The gardens and the pools are very well taken care of. The aesthetics draws from the minoan culture and indeed the resort looks very royal. The rooms are slightly dated, but this is not necessarily an issue. The cleaning ladies were very sweet!

GreeceThe only thing that left me and my family a bit puzzled and disappointed was that we were charged for the bottle of water at dinner. It might seem as an insignificant amount compared to the total we paid for the room but being charged for a bottle of water at dinner felt quite off. By the way, water at breakfast was for free via a self served dispenser . I 'm ok to have to pay for a second /third bottle of water or for the preference of say a Pellegrino or more particular sparkling water and other soft drinks or alcohol of course.
The breakfast and dinner offered both an extremely wide range of options of very good food. We were offered an upgrade to a junior suite which was a very pleasant surprise.

United KingdomWhen booking the website/reviews indicated that all of the 5 restaurants were all inclusive. Two of these are (buffet style) and then you can eat in another 2 on one occasion. This would have been good to know prior to booking/should be clear on the website as we believed all inclusive would include using these facilities. May need to change policy on saving loungers around the private pools- we would come down to find 30 loungers all empty but covered in towels for most of the day- on the occasion we asked the lifeguard to remove some for us to be able to use, we were then shouted at by a couple 2 hours later saying they had just popped up for lunch.
The staff are an absolute asset. Michael on reception, Maria on the pool bar and the lovely host in the main restaurant and the evening bar team (cannot remember your name but Thankyou to the lovely lady who served us Rosemary Sprig cocktails all week) you are all excellent. The pools are all very clean, the resort is on the beach and the restaurants all serve great food. The room was clean, a good size and we were upgraded by the reception team to a pool view room. it was stunning. The balcony was a fab added bonus. In the evenings there is live music on the roof bar which was great- we had cocktails and played cards there.

UkraineThere're too few sun beds in the beach given the number of guests in the hotel. I noticed people coming early in the morning and "marking" the sun beds with the towels and then they would disappear for hours. So, other guests who come later can't find available beds while many of them being occupied by the towels and not people.
Very good hotel, which impressed me again after the first visit more than ten years ago. Elegant and clean with very friendly staff at the reception and restaurants. It's location is perfect in terms of the proximity to the airport and city, at the same time it's away from busy urban areas. The rooms are clean and spacious, most of them have cosy balconies or small terraces. It has a very green territory, crystal clear pools and many areas for activities that would be enjoyed both by adults and kids. The beach is a bit tricky because of the rocky shore, but special footwear solves this little problem. The sea in that area is simply gorgeous, it's wavy and turquoise like an ocean, but be ready for a red flag sign in case of a storm. We were also happy with the assortment and quality of the food in the main restaurant and the one on the beach. A little grocery store was helpful when we needed some basic supplies, and the garment shops in the hotel are cool too. In general this is a highly recommended place for a relaxing vacation.

United KingdomFood is horrible. they are using not very quality products to prepare even greek salan (green tomatos in Greece! - shame on you!!!). we ordered room service and they bought raw salmon and uncooked french fries (had to pay 10 EUR to room service). The cleanness wasn't great: my partner got a pillow that smelled smoke.
The resort is quite big, but that's all from positive things. you have to walk a lot up and down hill. Sundays is very difficult to get - you have to wake up very early to get it. noone is overlooking for people who left their towels and left the beach. and the luck of sunbeds is around beach area and all pools. Staff is very slow: on breakfast, you can wait a lot to get cutlery and coffee. often ask twice if you need water. you cann't get a water bottle anywhere there - only by glass. during two nights we had 4 cocktails only. two tasted like soap - we couldn't drink it at all. And btw there was NO space in the bar in the evening so we had to sit next to the bar and still had to wait for a waitress (who was very slow bc too many ppl she had to serve).
