Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIn our room was toothpaste on the wall, we had no warm water, our showerheadholder was broken, we were ignored by the staff to order dinner and the served food was (partial) cold and no WiFi or cellular connection in the room.
The hotel owns a big area with a pool, a own beach and multiple roomy rooms.

United KingdomThe outside space felt unattended for a 4* hotel. Many facilities felt outdated, and the surrounding area around the pool could have some attention. The parking space in the hotel limited, but there is space outside of the hotel. The shower had lukewarm water. Again, the breakfast for a 4* hotel felt limited.
Friendly staff, big room. Taking your breakfast by the pool was nice, and we asked for extra things that were delivered fast.

RomaniaThey only clean your room and change towels on request. You have to write on a paper what you want to have for breakfast and how many pieces you want. The rooms need a little retouching, they no longer look like in the pictures. The hotel does not look like 4*, more like 2*.
The hotel is very close to the beach, it was very quiet and the staff was friendly. Overal, not a bad trip and quite good value for money.

United KingdomThe lighting was poor at night and steps to the bedroom were steep and marble so hard. I fell going down them as the lighting was poor. Not very many staff on either.
The place was good value for money. Definitely not a 4* like it says on their sign But clean and food was nice.

GreeceNo bug screens on the doors/windows in a place that mosquitos have an on-going party all summer long. Walls needed to be fixed and painted. Holes everywhere in the room needed to be fixed and painted. Bathroom hooks were missing you could tell by the holes on door/ walls.
Nice location. Very friendly staff. Quality of breakfast really mediocre. Comparing amenities to price for one night, it was really expensive for what was offering.

North MacedoniaThe room was old, there wasn’t room cleaning during the 4 nights we stayed. The food was horrible and vary poor for that price. The hotel is too far from everything, there is no even a market that you can go by foot, and the beach full of rocks.

North MacedoniaEvery day at Skion palace was a new disappointment. And, I was ready, I read all the reviews. I was expecting an outdated hotel with not much to offer. Yet, I was surprised. The food is below average, when there is food. I've never before been to a place which ran out of food, but here it is. We were asked if we would share one serving between the three of us. The bed was not a king size bed, it was two twin mattresses (of different heights) brought together. The staff is 5 people doing everything, and you need a couple of days to actually understand who is the staff, because they have no uniforms, markings or anything similar. My passport was held for the whole duration of our stay, probably because they feared we would run away (with good reason, I did think of running away a couple of times). You need to ask for the room to be cleaned, and the toilet paper to be restocked. There were a pair of men's swimming shorts outside of our room for the whole duration of our stay. Nobody bothered to move them. If someone who stayed there before 01.09.2023 lost their shorts, don't worry, they are probably still there, you could pick them up. There is no WiFi in the rooms, and actually I struggled to get a mobile network reception also. I could go like this longer than my actual stay at this hotel, which I know will never happen again.
The sunset at the beach. I liked the villas in the neighborhood, I might ask if I can rent one for next time.

United KingdomWhat used to be a separate reception building at this hotel is now permanently closed. The reception turned out to be a straw booth by the bar at the far end of the premises (farthest from the parking lot), it isn’t manned and it isn’t clear who will attend to guests and how they can be called to help. Half of the payment amount is taken upfront and the rest is taken before guests even start their stay - opposite to anywhere else in Europe. The room floor was dirty and clearly isn’t being cleaned between guests. The breakfast is less than basic, quite disappointing really as far more is received for this amount in standard European hotels.
The room was okay, the location is convenient if driving by car.

ItalyThey fact that everything in the hotel is designed to save costs in an insulting way that reaches the grotesque. - the entrance is poorly indicated and the parking is not at all indicated, with a very narrow entrance. - the reception building is closed and non-functioning, giving the customer a quite creepy first impression. Only after wondering for ten minutes did I see a sign indicating their idea of a reception, that is a bamboo table next to the pool. Behind it was a lady not at all adequately dressed for her role ( shorts and sandals). - the room is dirty, the furniture is ruined and rusty, the shower water is mostly lukewarm except for the hottest hours ( I believe the heating is solar) - you have to leave your keys at the “reception” for them to come and tidy up. Not only that, you have to specify the single things you want them to clean. For instance, you must say “make the bed” or “clean the bathroom”, which again i find grotesque for a four star hotel. - the included breakfast and dinner are of very poor quality. You have to make you own coffee using an automatic dispenser which serves something that resembles dirty water. The fruit juice is similarly prepared mixing a condensate and water. Apple juice tastes like candy, orange juice tastes like a cheap energy drink. There are no fruits, very little choice and all of the products are of third choice. (For example, poor quality private label hazelnut spread instead of nutella). The dinner includes a soup and a second course with salad on the side. The soup and the salad are generally good, although one may argue that not everyone craves a hot soup as an entrée on a hot summer night. The main course is generally designed as to not exceed the 2-3 euros of industrial costs, by including very little meat, no fish, mainly carbohydrates. For instance: rice with chicken, moussaka, homemade pasta with beans, hot dogs with vegetables and God only knows what else.
The only positive things were the location and the private beach
