Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaMy only complaint was that the shower curtain was a little mouldy. The shower itself was quite small, but you get what you pay for. Could use a new curtain, otherwise everything was great
Absolutely loved the location and the staff. The balcony was beautiful to sit on and watch the Athenian sunset with a beer each evening. Very close to all the major sites and right on top of a bustling square with restaurants and bars. A really great place to stay in Athens

United StatesThe shower head didn’t have a hanger (hand held wand only) so it made showers challenging. Also, the floors started to feel sandy during our visit as the cleaning staff wasn’t sweeping when they cleaned the room. They also did not replenish our empty toilet tissue roll.
Excellent location, friendly staff and great value!

NetherlandsPeople with limited mobility must be aware there is no elevator (there is however a goods lift for luggage).
Basic hotel located on a lively pedestrian street in the heart of the action of Monastiraki. Clean. Windows are quite well insolated so we did not have a problem with the noise from the street to sleep. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Good value considering the central location.

Australiai would stay on the higher floors if you can, because the street noise and smoke drifting up is full on on level 2.
spotlessly clean, friendly and helpful staff, great location right in the heart of the action, and super easy access to all the ancient things *on foot*. Also got great recommendation for local eats from the owners. i stayed here 23 years ago and it hadn't changed!! we stayed here twice and i had a balcony room (overlooking the acropolis/parthenon) on the second and then third floor ❤ i loved the marble stairs - awesome exercise 😁

FinlandThe lack of a lift requiring a walk up 5 floors means anyone with any mobility disability should not stay here. Similarly if you want peace & quiet, this is not ideal - it is surrounded by bars & other noisy attractions that go on late into the night.
It's location is good. That's the most important thing. Secondly it's good value for money. Not much in the way of facilities, but the basics are there.

ChinaNot good enough sound proof. Some noises can be heard from outside of the door. But we could make it through by having earplugs. We left the hotel to airport by taxi, which is summoned by the hotel staff and costed 46 eruros. But the paper stick to the wall says 40 euros. We still don't know why we are overcharged. But since the taxi is a Mercedes Benz and very fast, we didn't have much complaints avout it.
The location is perfect! Right in the center of Athens, close to every sightseeing spots and metro station, which was much helpful because we only had 24 hours of stay in Athens. Thanks to the location, we were able to enjoy Athens and its achealogical wonders fully and efficiently. Plus there are great restaurants right outside the hotel with affordable price and good food quality. Lastly, it is a rather safe place to stay. Full of passionate tourists but not a single suspicious person. This is also beyond my expectation.

FranceI would advise the owners to lay the towels on the bed, as is done in most places. Instead of perching them on a high shelf out of sight. The shared toilets and shower, being separate, are only a minor nuisance. For a very cheap and clean room in such a fantastic location one would be petty to complain.
Great location for fun and ambiance. Easily accessible by metro from harbor and airport. I would advise people who do not practice stair-climbing for fitness to ask for a room on the first or second floor. There is an elevator for the luggage, but climbing to the fourth or fifth floor can present problems for the untrained.

PortugalNothing. It is what it is for the price we paid.
Fantastic location on a very busy and fun street and just a few meters away you are in Monastiraki square. At reception they are very friendly and we even stayed in a cheaper room by mutual agreement because we were a couple who were only staying one night. It's enough to just sleep a few hours and move on to the next destination. Very close to metro and a 15 min walk to the bus to the airport who works 24 hours.

South AfricaI stayed in the single room on the 4th floor. There are a lot of stairs - a lot ! And no lift. Hard work after a day out. The room was very small, and although it had a window, it looked onto a wall - no view. But it was fine just to sleep in for 2 nights.
The location was great. Easy walking distance to all the sites. 24-hour front desk. Friendly staff.
