Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere is nothing I can fault Terra Nera. In our view it is just a perfect relaxing place for us.
There are many things we like about Terra Nera. First and foremost, its the staff which makes it stand out. The family who owns the place is there everyday to make sure we are well looked after. They provide good advice to us for travel tips around the island. After 7 days' stay, they made us feel so welcome that we didn't want to leave. Then the location is perfect just right off the beach next to the restaurant. I enjoyed having a morning dip in the pool right outside after an early morning jog on the beach, and also a late night dip in the pool to cool off after a day out. Because they only have a small number of suites, privacy and peace is almost guaranteed. We also like the food which is Greek/Italian focused but also with a choice of fresh seafood. We tried other restaurants on the beach and we kept coming back to them because of the quality, freshness, value and the service. We also enjoyed the architect-designed split level suite which is well-equipped and very spacious (by far the most spacious of the places we stayed on the island). There is a private roof terrace as well as table/chairs outside our suite right in front of the private pool. Also full marks for cleaniness ( a key requirement for us), with fresh towels and sheets provided every day. Breakfast was an option in our package but the choice is good. We can take the breakfast in the restaurant, outside or in our suite or on the beach (we tried them all for variety)

SingaporeNothing. Its a bit far from Oia and one needs to hire a car to go there. But the good thing is the distance also makes it less crowded unlike Oia which is teeming with tourists.
This little boutique hotel will always have a special place in my heart! Terra Nera is without a doubt, one of the best hotels I have stayed in, in all my years of travel. Right from the booking, the service was consistently OUTSTANDING, with Katerina reaching out to confirm my travel schedule and car booking; Christos painstakingly and patiently helping me plan our sightseeing for each day; and Georgios and Mariana checking up on us at every meal, to check if everything was okay. When we arrived we were greeted with a welcome drink & a traditional dessert that were amazing. The day before we left, there were candles by our door to bid us goodbye. When I enquired where we could buy the traditional dessert which my boys loved, Mariana gifted us a box to take back home. These little touches and personalised attention at this family run hotel, makes guests feel like one was staying with family rather than at a hotel. I travelled with my husband and 2 boys and we had booked the Deluxe suite which was very comfortable for the 4 of us. The loo is separate from the shower which is very convenient when you have a family travelling. The beach is literally a 30 second walk from the hotel and loungers are reserved for the hotel guests so you will always find one. The beach is also possibly one of the few beaches in Santorini that is not rocky and one can actually swim in the water. There are also water sports as well as supermarket within walking distance. Finally, how can I end this review without mentioning the amazing food at Terra Nera? It was so good we did not go anywhere else to eat! The restaurant seemed pretty popular as it was crowded every evening. The seafood was fresh, the meat dishes perfectly cooked and, the Greek salad with the large chunks of amazing feta, the taramasalata, the grilled feta, the yogurt were just out of this world. I would highly recommend this beautiful place.

SwitzerlandNothing all was just perfect
Every was perfect. Great boutique which is own by a very nice family. We were 2 adults and 2 kids and took a deluxe suite which was very comfortable. The hotel is linked to Terre Nera beach which makes like easier with sun beds. The restaurant was also delicious and very reasonable. We could not have wished a better place in Santorini. A special thanks to Christie who made our life easier and Ketarina. Honestly if I could put 11 I would not hesitate.

AustriaThe village is quite far off from Oia and Fira - which we knew. There is not much to see/do in the evening other than the restaurants around.
Great attention to detail in the suites, amazing service. Very charming family who owns the hotel and the restaurant. Very convenient, especially with kids - there is a pool and an organized beach.

United Kingdom- Bar/restaurant prices are steep in the area (not the fault of the owners, but something to be aware of) - Small breakfast included would be a nice to have (not that it was advertised, it would just be nice)
- Fantastic location, 2 minutes from beach with reserved beach chairs - Friendly owners, make you feel welcome - The staff is extremely helpful with booking day trips and other things - Modern room, beautifully designed and well equipped - Great outdoor pool area (we also had a small private pool, which was also nice) - Attached restaurant is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner; you can also eat directly at the beach

Abkhazia, GeorgiaI would like to give some suggestions as I saw the owner is actually reactive and implementing what other guest have proposed, but we didn't really miss anything there.
Very helpful and friendly staff - we had a very early flight so we arrived to the place much earlier than the check-in time but they already had the room prepared and ready for us (they reached out a day earlier to find out when we are coming). The apartment was new and had all facilities that we needed - it actually surprised us that it had two fully equipped bathrooms. There is a private beach where hotel guests have reserved sun beds with amazing service (just press the button). The beach is also great - just sand, no sharp or slippery rocks as in most of Santorini beaches.

United KingdomTerra Nera suites are absolutely stunning. The rooms are decorated to a high standard and the layout is perfect. A few apartments around a central pool which is so peaceful and relaxing. The suites are attached to the Terra Nera restaurant which does lovely food and the breakfast were first rate. The staff simply could not be more hospitable and friendly. I agree with other reviewers that you feel like a very spoilt member of the family. Finally the beach club attached is very clean and well run. There is always the front row of sun loungers reserved which was fantastic. Cannot recommend the suites highly enough.

This hotel has a really lovely vibe about it. there are only 6 suites so it felt very peaceful. we loved the fact it is run by a family and there are lots of extra touches that made it adorable. The room was beautiful with a little rooftop terrace and courtyard. The pool area was so pretty. The dining area faces the sea and breakfast is a la carte, we found the staff so genuine, friendly and happy and would love to come back here again.

United KingdomNothing at all - can't wait to return
This was our favourite place to stay out of four hotels during our two week holiday in the Cyclades. Both for how amazing the accommodation and location are - it is just as brilliant as the pictures and very new/pristine. But also for how fabulously warm the owners are. They made us feel like rock stars during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble, everyone took time to say hello to us and everything has been well thought through for the guest experience. It was faultless. For example the best sun loungers on the fabulous beach are reserved for hotel guests only - meaning you always had a prime beach spot any time of the day - no stress.

United StatesEverything about this place is exceptional! Katherina made a special welcoming for us with cold drinks, and local sweets. The two story with two bedrooms and jet tub suite was the most comfortable suite I have ever stayed in. The decor, the attention to details, the proximity to the beautiful black sand beach, the great restaurant these people own, the food, and most of all the personal attention to their guests. Yorgus (George) the owner and his sister who both run this place with other family members, gave us a feeling that we are not an ordinary people who just happened to rent a room, but actually their own personal guests in their facility. That was incredibly exceptional for us, and we travel a lot around the world. The staff were always smiling, attentive, act fast, polite, friendly and nice. The room was clean and so was the general swimming pool. We will definitely come back! Katherina and Yorgus made us feel incredibly spoiled with the great breakfast, special orders and even with facilitating a car rental. I would give them 10 stars if I could.
