Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe shower was a bit awkward. But that's the nature of the beast in an old building. The bed seemed a bit hard, but we slept great on it, so no complaints!
The location was wonderful, although we had a bit of trouble finding it on the first day. It's in the middle of a maze of small streets, and Google Maps couldn't tell where we were with enough accuracy to give us good directions. When you get close, call Athena and she will guide you in! We stayed here because we wanted to stay in a place with more personality than a bigger city but wanted to be close to Knossos and other local attractions. The town is a perfect size: big enough to have amenities but small enough to be walkable. The quality of local restaurants is above par (Athena recommended Bakaliko and Kritamon, and both were great—Bakaliko will do a wine tasting for you if you're there in the afternoon). We got pastries from a local bakery for breakfast. The best thing about the property is the helpful and kind proprietor, Athena!

SerbiaThe yard is very beautiful and meticulously taken care of. The houses have a 19-th century vibe to them. So many details that Athena and her family are tending. Position perfect, the centre of the village is 3 minutes away from the houses. Athena is so welcoming, communicative and funny. It was a real pleasure if you like a more traditional and personal touch away from the beach crowds.

SpainCan’t think of anything… it was a bit difficult to carry up heavy suitcases because of steep stairs but the whole village is on a hill so it’s understandable that traditional homes in that location are like that. I just think that older people with mobility issues might find it tricky to stay in the upper apartments.
Beautiful property, spent 3 nights just after mid-August. We could easily just spend the day in the patio just reading and enjoying the calmness and beauty of the place. Great host/landlady, was very helpful and patient with our delayed late-night arrival and also a really nice and friendly person! Also, great to have a parking area saved for the tenants of Troullos, since parking near the accommodation is tricky in the village.

United KingdomBeing a traditional Cretan town meant that dogs (and cats) were left to wander freely around the streets and we needed to be careful where we stepped in the narrow streets. They also enjoy a good bark throughout the night!
Our Host (Athena) was very attentive and helpful, providing lots of useful information about Archanes and Crete - and she was always keen to share local delicacies and even a bottle of wine with us. The courtyard is very beautiful and the apartments are all decorated in a traditional style - ours was very comfortable. The marketplace in Archanes is a great place to eat and soak up the authentic local atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble for our host, Athena. We have no hesitation in recomending this place to anybody who wants to explore Crete.

United StatesTroullos was the quintessential holiday stay in Greece and far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we entered the beautiful gate and wound up the stone stairs into the courtyard, we fell in love. The setting is private, unique (with a stone oven, fruit trees, and seating areas), and modernized while still also honoring the history of the home. Athina quickly became a friend we felt like we had known for 10 years. She shared some of her delicious sweets, fruits, stories about her life, talked with us about our travels - it was the kind of generosity and kindness you don't find anymore in the world. Which is what makes Greece SO special and staying at Troullos so special. Archanes is a special village! It has great restaurants and close proximity to both the north and south of Crete, wonderful neighboring villages for drinking wine, listening to traditional Cretan music, getting lost in a field of olive trees (Peza, Skalani, Choudetsi, etc.). You can easily drive to different beaches and get a true sense of Cretan cultural. We've been traveling all over the world for the last 6 months and the stay at Troullos is one we tell our friends and family about. We dreamt of visiting again, throwing a gathering there, and it made our time in Crete SO special. Thank you, euxaristo para polu Athina and Mixalis !!!!

AustraliaWe loved everything about this gorgeous place. The large central courtyard is inviting with orange trees and potted herbs throughout. The rooms were traditional and comfortable. Athina was warm and friendly. She was amazing spending time to chat each day and was so helpful with the best recommendations. The village is charming with lots of alleys to wander through and a shaded central square with many places to choose from to have coffee and eat. Athina sent us on our way after 3 nights in Archanes with baked goodies. Thank you

CanadaThe bed (not very comfy) and the shower (little water pressure). And there was no housekeeping in the three days of our stay.
The traditional homes are essentially a series of charming independent bungalows wrapped around a beautiful courtyard with orange trees, tucked away on a hillside above this charming town. We loved the privacy, the quiet, and our own patio. The owner, Athina, is very gracious, rescuing us when we got lost trying to find the place and navigate the town's narrow lanes. We opted not to have breakfast included, eating every morning at one of the cafes a short walk down the hill.
