Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLoved everything .
Everything. Perfect location, exceptionally clean room. Everything I could have needed was there. All the staff very friendly and helpful. My ferry was cancelled the day I was due to leave and they went out of their way to ensure I could stay in the room an extra night.

United StatesOur experience at Upper Hydra was excellent. The host was amazing and took great care of us. The room was spacious and comfortable. The weather was chilly so we spent a lot of time at Isola's Cafe on the main level of the building- also great. I highly recommend Upper Hydra and look forward to going back.

United KingdomNoise and fumes from ferry and water taxis were a downside of location and buzz from cafe-bar downstairs, but none of these sufficient to stop a good night's sleep. Luxury fitted bathroom but shower didn't drain well so tended to flood out onto floor. Disappointing breakfast provided for our early departure. Despite this being prearranged with the host, some miscommunication meant we had to chase this up before bedtime and settle for a few things they could throw together whilst serving a busy bar.
Amazing location on the harbour front with a balcony to take in the view. Convenient for water taxis, ferry and watching out for the rich and famous' yachts cruising in! Amazing breakfast choice in the cafe-bar below, serving very generous portions. Room very spacious with convenience of fridge, kettle and coffee machine. Very comfy bed and sofa to relax. Loved the local donkey themed crockery and soft furnishings. Friendly service of room daily, including refreshing beach towels. Lovely toiletries provided.

IsraelThere is no elevator, it might be difficult for someone. But there are no elevators anywhere here so mind that. I personally didn’t have any problems with that.
First of all it’s so close so you don’t have to climb the never ending stairs to get to it. You literally just get from the ferry, walk 40 seconds and enter the hotel. The room was very clean and comfy, I liked everything about it, the shower, the bed, pillows. Everything. The staff was amazing. The breakfast was in the restaurant downstairs and it was delicious.

United KingdomThe check in was a bit abrupt. I only arrived 30 minutes early and the man from the cafe asked if I had permission (his first words to me) and then opened the door & shouted up the stairs to the cleaner - she showed me in while she was still finishing the cleaning - I could have waited if not ready. No welcome - or smile, or politeness (didn't say hello or even ask where I was from or if traveling alone etc) - I had travelled for almost 24 hr to get there and was looking forward to staying. He seemed to be there all the time and continued to be abrasive - I didn't want the complimentary breakfast in the end.
Lovely clean and modern facilities, luxury feel with a great outlook. Surprisingly quiet at night and in the morning. The bed was very comfortable and quality towels and bed covers, cleaned everyday. The cleaning lady was lovely.

United StatesThere wasn’t a single thing we disliked about the property
Everything was absolutely perfect. Aside from the gorgeous view, the place was super clean, central location (only steps from the ferries), and had everything we needed, such as a hair dryer, iron, toiletries, and breakfast included.

United KingdomFantastic place and we will definitely stay again. A very clean place, high quality linen, super comfy Cocomat mattress with topper, Cocomat towels, a very good shower with an abundance of Molton Brown toiletries. It was good to also have a robe and room slippers. Location is perfect, literally opposite the embarkation spot for boats but as we had a back facing room, we didn't notice any noise. I loved the lamp shades and the overall clean/minimal style of the place.

GreeceThe bathroom is separated from the rest of the room with a glass and you don't have the privacy you need when staying when another person. However I traveled alone so no problem with that.
Great place and great travel experience during this time of the year (off season). I took a sea view room with a small balcony in front. Even lying on the bed (very good mattress) and reading your book you can enjoy the magnificent view. Molton brown products can make you happy when taking your shower. The location is excellent for this time period as most shops are closed and the port is the place where everybody meets. You can enjoy your coffee and breakfast at Isalos cafe (very kind personnel). Also congratulations to Tiky (I hope I write well her name). She is the woman who cleans the room and she is very kind and helpful.

United KingdomThe toilet wall and door is transparent glass with no way of covering it. Check-in was not explained (the check-in is done in the restaurant downstairs). The staff was not sure which room we were staying in, so we had to hang around until someone arrived to tell them.
The view was amazing, located right at the port, so we could watch all the port activity from our balcony. The breakfast was delicious and VERY generous! The staff were friendly and very helpful.
