Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsI need to be really pity picking an negativity here. The shower however super clean and modern: it’s to small and not well designed. What leaves a huge mess what is not easy to clean because there is nothing in there to get rid of the water. Further then this excellent. The building is noizy because of it’s heritage. But not extreme.
Location, atmosphere, decoration, owners, history.. It lives and breathes history..

United KingdomThere was nothing I disliked, but there were a couple of things that would make this an exceptional hotel. Whilst there is air conditioning in the rooms, there was none in the communal areas. It was 30 degrees in Kalamata, and it would be lovely to walk into the cool, beautiful hotel. Secondly, there was not enough storage for clothes. We were only there one night it didn't matter to us, but on a longer stay, I do want to unpack my bag. I want to wish the owners every success with their lovely hotel. Thank you.
We stayed one night at the hotel, which has been beautifully and lovingly restored by the owners, and it is a feast for your eyes. The room was large with high ceilings and subtly painted shades of grey and pink. The original doors and floors have been stripped back and varnished. The shower room, though small, was exquisite. The bed was large and very comfortable. The rooms lead off the beautiful open communal area, which is bathed in soft light from the glass skylights. The communal areas are beautiful with the painted ceiling, a stripped spiral staircase leading to the loft room and antique furniture. Breakfast was delicious and consisted of handmade local traditional dishes. The location is central to the older part of Kalamata, which at night buzzes with life from all directions. The hotel is in the heart and soul of Kalamata, yet thanks to the excellent roads, you can drive to Kalamata Airport in less than 30 minutes. Parking tip - do not attempt to park at hotel go to City Parking Lot - free and only 5 minute walk.

AustraliaWe didn’t want to leave as our best stay in our four week Greece holiday.
The charming and historical venue was stunning and the management were very hospitable. Effie and George could not have been more helpful and welcoming. The location was perfect 1/2 way between the old town and new town square and cafes and shops at the door step. The bus stop is three minutes walk and for 1.3 euros takes you to the beautiful beach and beach bars and seafood taverns. The bed was the most comfortable for our entire four week six accommodation stays. Luxury towels and robes and the best shower in Greece. Quiet private and the most beautiful breakfast is served. Good wifi and we loved the balcony to view the interesting local town comings and going’s. We recommend this hotel for romantic stay for couples who appreciate comfort and luxury with a great location.

United KingdomAn exceptional hotel - we are planning another trip to Kalamata just so we can stay here. The building has been beautifully and lovingly restored, and is utterly delightful. Our room was stunning, 4 huge windows (and thoughtfully upgraded to a balcony room). The bed was comfortable, the bathroom modern and rainfall shower great. The breakfast was out of this world, with delicious homemade cheese pie, home-baked bread, fresh orange juice, fruit, ham, cheese, eggs, and sweet pastries. The owners are warm, friendly, and very welcoming. We will definitely be back.

Traditional food from Greece/Kalamata served individually to your table. A feast fit for a king. we highly recommend this Location was perfect, in the Centre of the town and close to all shops and tavernas. thank you for an amazing stay 😁

GermanyNothing negative comes to mind!
Super friendly and caring hosts in this nicely renovated hotel in one of the historic buildings of Kalamata made our stay really exceptional! The location is perfect to explore the city and take a stroll through the main areas with cafes/restaurants (definitely ask the hosts for recommendations, we ended up going there multiple times during our stay) and we usually found parking close by as well. For breakfast we got a nice variation of local specialities and despite the heat wave the rooms AC in combination with exceptionally comfortable bedding had us sleeping like babies! An added bonus was the nice little cafe in the same building that served really great cakes and iced coffee as well! We didn't know much about Kalamata before we came but Vasilikon definitely has us coming back to explore more of this beautiful area of Greece :)

United StatesCentrally located next to many shops and restaurants. In the summer when the sun goes down at around 8:30pm, the whole town comes out and has dinner in the restaurants which is a great atmosphere -- I recommend having a Freddo Cappuccino after dinner and people watching. The room has everything you need -- soft beds, air conditioning, great smelling shampoo and body wash. The couple who own this hotel are very kind and took the time to get to know everyone who is staying there. They just remodeled the hotel (it is the oldest in Kalamata apparently) so you can tell it's a labor of love to them. Breakfast was huge - they absolutely spoiled me with coffee, local pastries, and cheese. Overall, great experience.

GreeceFacilities and amenities were way below a 5star hotel standard. Actually I don’t believe that this property is a 5star hotel and therefore overpriced. Further the bathroom is modern and renovated but extremely small and not very functional.
Nice location. Respectfully renovated with a cinematographic touch. Breakfast had a local flavor. Nice and friendly host.
