This is our second time visiting villa mare monte , and the reason we wanted to come back to Crete ,was because of this amazing place , The owner and staff are absolutely awesome .

I have been several times to Malia, but this is definitely the best place to stay there. Situated within wonderful gardens at the foot of the hills above Malia with a breathtaking view at the coastline. Extremely neatly and soignée resort, the rooms are a dream. Very familial athmosphere with an amazing friendly team. The heart of this place is the pool and the highlight is the breakfast next to the pool from the well-sorted buffet. Choose this place and you will be excited.

Fantastic room with spectacular views over the sea. Bed was so comfortable. Pool area was very clean and the sun loungers were comfortable. All staff extremely kind and helpful from Mrs Koula, Elektra and Linda. Thank you.

Quiet, clean well maintained property. Studio room was airy and pleasant.Pleasant pool area. Staff were lovely and helpful. Away from touristy area of Malia but close enough if you wanted to wander or taxi down.

I had an absolutely fantastic time at this hotel – I'd give it a perfect 10 stars! The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the pool was just as pristine. The rooms were big, which was wonderful for families like mine. The kids' beds were ultra-comfy – far better than typical sofa beds. It was such a pleasant surprise that each child had their own cozy bed. The entire staff, including the owner, were incredibly warm and helpful, always there with a smile. Amanda and the owner in particular, was a true gem. The hotel's location is a winner – peaceful yet conveniently close to a variety of restaurants in the central area. Close to Amazing crystal clear water beach Potamos beach - with blue laggons What's more, it's just a quick 25-minute drive from the airport. And that pool? The view of the mountains and trees is simply stunning. It's an oasis of relaxation. In a nutshell, this hotel is an absolute dream for families. Impeccably clean rooms, super comfy beds for the kids, great location, a gorgeous pool with an incredible view and the cherry on top super friendly and attentive team – I Highly recommend it!

The location was great, quiet but still close enough to the center and beach. The mountain behind the hotel can easily be hiked up with an amazing view. Everything was clean and the staff amazing, friendly and always helpful! Great breakfast, clean pool. If I come back then it will be this place!!!

I only stayed one night as it was a transit stop before moving on to Sitia. The lady on reception stayed late as she knew I would arrive after it was closed. Apartment 12 was lovely. The terrace had a view of the sea. The bedroom was more boutique than standard in Greece. I arrived by taxi that the property can organise from the airport. I had breakfast before I left which was a buffet. The complex is situated in a quiet spot on the hillside with a pool. I would stay here again.

Nothing we didn't like

Fantastic staff, beautifully clean, Nothing was too much trouble. Owners enjoyed what they do and take pride in providing excellent customer service. Excellent value for money. Good sense of humour and service with a smile. Electra (not sure of spelling sorry) provided great bar service and knowledge on how to get around Crete. More than happy to return to this location either with friends or as a sole traveller. Quiet picturesque location but within walking distance of main town of Malia albeit up hill. Loved the view loved the people loved the pool. Bar food good.

Everything was perfect.The hotel and pool beautiful. All the staff ( including owner ) was exceptional, very friendly and will do everything they can to make your stay more enjoyable.Very clean rooms with beautiful views. The bar and the food was perfect .will be coming back to stay again soon .

Staff were exceptional from the outset. Very detailed check in and always on hand 24hrs a day if required. Restaurant was excellent,good choice of food and good value, served by friendly staff. Special thanks go to Elektra and the owner for their friendliness and help during our stay, made our stay even more special. When we return to crete we will be sure to stay here.

Only one thing I would recommend to improve. Offer a laundry service to your clients, like pick-up and drop off the day after (charged, of course). I wasted time to go looking for a laundry service with good service.

Beautiful small apartment with sea view. I rally enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace. The bathroom was very comfortable with large shower. The bed was clean and comfy too. The swimming pool was great and close to the bar. Amazing price for value.

The property was rather quiet and had a small, pleasant pool. It's on top of a hill near Mallia, but just far enough for there to be little noise. The staff was available and very helpful at all times as well.

The staff are extraordinary, accommodating, helpful and friendly! The villa is superbly located, out of the way, beautiful view of the coast. the bed was large and comfortable.
