Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWhen it rained, the concrete pathways became slippery. We had a fall.
This hotel was spectacular. Hand down the most breathtaking views and beautiful rooms. The meals were healthy and produced with local produce in mind. Fabulous.

NetherlandsThe walk-in shower water runs across 1/3 of the bathroom towards another drainage. No big deal. The floor gets wetter than usual but dry up fast, too. A few guests were 'extra' noisy (shouting! not playing!) together with their children. Not hotel's fault.
Exceptionally beautiful pool and hotel. Friendly staff. Best chef team. Excellent delicious & healthy food. Huge bathroom countertop.

Germanynothing negative, just not enough room under positives for a full review, so using the space here: (...)2 donkeys and a couple of cats. If you always wanted to pet a donkey, this is your chance :D The pool has a shallow side seperated by a metal railing, so the super young ones can play. We appreciated that a lot. For everyone else it has varying depth reaching around 2meters in depth on the far side. The general area has some nice beaches and some cool things to see within a 1 hour car trip radius. Since we mostly wanted to chill out and relax we enjoyed the pool a lot and 2 of the beaches within 15 mins of the hotel. I suggest carribean beach bar just under the hotel (free shuttle service) and Akti Peroulia a bit to the south. Breakfast was really good, changing a bit every day and mixing in some local delicacies like strapatsada, rizogalo, loukoumades etc. Fresh orange juice, nothing out of the can which we appreciated. We had lunch several times. Was perfect while chilling at the pool. Some tasty burgers, tacos and club sandwiches. We didn´t try the rest but they looked good. We had dinner once because we usually like to try the different tavernas in such areas. Dinner at the hotel was very tasty though.
We had an amazing time and were able to relax. The hotel is just like we like it. Not too many rooms, so you are not overrun by crowds but big enough to have proper infrastructure and a proper ammount of staff on duty. The staff was extremely attentive and always friendly. We got some really good tips for beautiful beaches and short excursions. The hotel is set in a large area in the middle of nature on the side of a hill 5 minuntes from the beachfront. There are many plants and lawn areas, so as it is typical for Greece you will see some grasshoppers, cicadas etc. If you can´t stand the sight of a bug, maybe book a hotel in a city. The rooms have mosquito nets on all balconies and windows, so the inside of the rooms don`t have issues with bugs. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had requested a baby cot, which we could place in an alcove around the corner from the main bed. That was awesome, because we could have dimmed light on and talk normally even when the baby was sleeping in the same room with us. For us, that was a big quality of life plus. The hotel has an enviromentally conscious approach in many things. One of those we specifically liked is the water distribution. You get 2 glass bottles with fresh water in your fridge upon arrival, which you can refill (free of charge of course) at a fountain at the entrance. The water there comes from a special water filter and this solves the problem of creating mountains of garbage. By the way, we stayed there during a heat wave with temperatures around 40°C. In Greece easy access to cold water is ivalluable in the summer. The staff was always looking out for how they can aid you. From bringing you cold water at the pool, taking care of used plates and cleaning up quickly, as well as keeping the breakfast buffet fully stocked. They were always present and always friendly. thumbs up! There are some resident pets on the hotel grounds. (...)

The room was large with another amazing view of the coast and the mountains and staying out of high season was fantastic as the hotel was quiet and private. We would highly recommend, it’s a secret and luxurious hideaway.

JapanI know I am in Greece, but after a week you want something different =) So I ordered a margarita at the bar, I think they forgot tequila & triple sec =) I was served a martini glass of lime juice with a salted rim, but I didn't mention anything to the bartender because he was so nice and so is everyone in the staff. After that we mostly drank beer at the hotel, the cocktails were OK.... beach tiki bars were better. Also, it would be nice if they included the fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast since there are oranges being sold everywhere, instead of serving carton juice. You can order the fresh squeezed orange juice a la carte (we did it anyway & it was good)
The drive into the hotel is beautiful, driving in the olive groves you can smell the olives. On arrival you see infinity pool & the coastline, then are given a small tour of the grounds to include bar, restaurant, olive groves, and fountain for fresh water to refill during your stay. Walking to the room you smell lavender and olives all around, you are greeted by the hotel pets, 2 donkeys, 2 cats, and a chicken. Breakfast is delicious at the pool in the morning, different pastries everyday. My family also had lunch at the pool during the day, the carbonara, calamari, greek salad were delicious! There's a circle of 3 grocery stores nearby to get a taste of the local ingredients, and the samples of the room's olive oil products are heavenly!!!! We wet to the nearby beach and spent the day there, really nice for snorkeling (different colored fish to see) and snack bar on the beach (2 euros a beer, 2 euros for a ham & cheese sandwich).

United KingdomLocation perfect, food wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely be going back next year with my daughter hopefully or possibly a friend for a quiet relaxing holiday. Small boutique hotel so doesn’t get too busy thankfully, nearby beach with taverna equally relaxing. Visited Koroni for a morning to do a little shopping and take some gifts home which was quite bohemian and fun. Can’t wait until next year. Thank you for a wonderful stay White Donkey Hotel.

DenmarkIf you plan to visit White Donkey for tranquility (based on the pictures) then do not come in the summer time/July. I think there were more kids than adults. I recommend to check with the hotel when the best time is to visit if this is your aim. If you want to eat at the hotel not a lot of options for dinner (but very well made mind you).
Owners and staff were amazing. The location and views were simply just stunning. Pool great with infinity view, nice breakfast and dinner. What you see in the pictures are true. An amazing hotel with great big rooms and a fine balcony. We did not try the beach but there is a shuttle service from the hotel. All in all just a great stay and we will be happy to return in Spring or Autumn.

BelgiumDuring our 3-days stay a lot of noisy children made the experience less zenn than expected in such an environment (probably unlucky in a busy period with 80 guests for 24 rooms).

We loved our stay at white donkey staff were so friendly Always smiling and polite and happy to help which I always find makes you feel welcome and meant they enjoyed working there . Everything was spotlessly clean . It really felt a special place to visit I wish we had stayed longer will def be going back to stay here if we visit Kalamata again . The breakfast was very nice a variety of cooked items , yogurt nuts and seeds and lots of cakes and crepes for the kids . The restaurant was also very nice with 2 options for mains and dessert and a good salad buffet starter with reasonable price about the cost of an average meal out in one of the surrounding restaurants . Over all I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough just great thankyou !

GreeceNothing not to like!
This Boutique Hotel exceeded our expectations! We booked very last minute and due to its fully booked capacity they called us to inform us that we are getting an upgrade. We ended up staying at the main suite of their hotel, since there were no other rooms available at this price. Our suite was really spacious in the main building of the hotel, with two large terraces facing the main infinity pool. Breakfast was excellent and served up until 11 am, which is very convenient for those that don't wake up early in their holidays. Everyone at the stuff was friendly and ready to accommodate all your needs. Boris the owner, welcomed us and was very helpful to show us around and give us a few suggestions of places and beaches to visit around the area. Our suite had a special key to enter the main reception, if you were to come back late at night and one night we forgot to take it with us. We called Boris at 2am and whereas was past his bedtime, he came down to open the door for us with no complaints at all. I tend to appreciate this kind of stuff! Infinity pool was a treat with great view facing Kalamata and the remaining villages donw below. The property also has 2 donkeys (a Mom and her child), which you could see them hanging around in their field while you were swimming in their pool.

United StatesNOTHING. The stay here was amazing :)
The White Donkey Hotel is immaculate. It is thee best place to stay in this area. The staff are so friendly and the manager literally knows everyone she checks in and out. She customizes each visit for each guest. The rooms are beautiful and the view from the pool is even better. The service at the pool and the food is great. They also have really great cocktails. They have to a shuttle to and from the beach. Hotels always look better in the pictures but The White Donkey looks even better when you're there in person. The grounds are beautiful and I do not have one bad thing to say about my stay here. I also went to Camvillia and The White Donkey is much better. If you're looking at the two, definitely choose The White Donkey. Plus, they have an actual donkey there and a cat that stays at the hotel for any animal lovers :)
