Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe pool area is very small which was slightly disappointing and it was a brisk 10/15 minute walk from the old town (although this didn’t bother us it may bother others).
The property is very modern and the rooms were very clean. It is in a close proximity to the beach too. The staff were lovely and provided us with recommendations of where to eat whilst we were there.

United KingdomWe have stayed at the White Swan 3 times in the last 6 months. Lovely, clean family run hotel where nothing is too much trouble. Situated in residential area just 5 minutes walk to the beach. Staff really helpful especially the lovely young lady Dora, who is an asset to the hotel. We will be back.

United KingdomEverything about White Swan was great - very enjoyable. Parking in Rethymno is tricky at times, but manageable.
It was a cmfortable and well appointed room with balcony. The staff and owners at reception are very friendly, and go out of their way to be helpful and welcoming, with excellent English. The hotel is quiet, well managed in a nice neighbourhood, and close to beach, shops, restaurants.

EstoniaA very spacious and clean hotel in the city center, about 2 minutes' walk from the beach promenade. There is a public parking lot nearby and it is also possible to park on the street. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. For example, they made us a parking spot right in front of the hotel and gave us good recommendations about the best restaurants nearby (ex. breakfast in Barrio Cafe - pic.) . The room is very modern, comfortable and clean, there is everything the visitor may need during his stay. Although the hotel is located on a city street, the room is very quiet. We definitely recommend staying at this hotel, it's a great experience.

I had the pleasure of staying at the White Swan hotel on September 27-28, and I must express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff for their exceptional service. The White Swan is not just a hotel; it's a family-run gem that goes above and beyond in making your stay truly memorable. I visited Crete with my sister to celebrate her 40th birthday, and prior to our arrival, I reached out to the hotel staff to arrange a surprise. They exceeded all expectations by decorating our room with delightful balloons, a perfectly chilled bottle of champagne, and a selection of delicious sweets. My sister was over the moon with this warm welcome, and I can't thank the staff enough for making it so special. Aside from the fantastic service, the White Swan's location is superb. It's conveniently situated close to shops, the bustling main street along the beach, and many other hotels. A mere 15-minute walk takes you right into the heart of the town. Our stay at the White Swan was a memorable and heartwarming experience, thanks to the wonderful staff and the thoughtful gestures that made my sister's 40th birthday celebration truly extraordinary. I highly recommend this charming family-run hotel to anyone visiting Rhythemno, Crete.

CanadaVery, very minor details that are more for awareness than negative: - The rooftop is closed during the winter season so make sure you contact the hotel to confirm. - Parking spaces are available, but limited so make sure you contact hotel ahead. Otherwise, we find Rethymno has free parking within walking distance. - No view of the beach from the suites, but you are so close by walking there!
- Staff: Staff are unbelievably nice and kind, and very responsive over Booking.com platform and/or in-person. They always have someone staffed there. The staff greeted us upon entry and made sure we are settling in the suite. You can tell they genuinely want to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. - Facilities: Roof top deck provides umbrella, coffee tables and chairs to enjoy the open air. There is a small pool for kids or adults to dip in to cool down. The parking is available right in front of the hotel. - Cleanliness: the room was very clean and modern. - Comfort: There are a total of 4 floors + rooftop. We were assigned suite #409. The rooms are very quiet. The main bed is very comfortable. The sofa is ok and the TV is decent sized. The bathroom is spacious. There are 2 AC's and both are clean and works well to cool the suite. The kitchenette have cook top and everything else (microwave, mini fridge, cutlery, cups, plates, coffee machine). We were given some coffee grinds and some raki as part of staying. - Location: It is so easily walkable to the sandy beaches and far enough to be away from the noise of main strip. We love the fact that the suite is quiet and next to the locals. - Overall value: 10/10. We were sad that we had to leave. We highly recommend this hotel.
