Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelThe area: We chose this place in part due to the great reviews it received. However we were quite surprised that no one mentioned that there is no parking next to the house. We had a large SUV and had large suitcases and also did quite a bit of food shopping to last us through the week. It took us a while to figure out how to park as close as possible. Neither Google maps nor Waze were able to direct us properly. It would have been a plus to receive driving and parking instructions from the host. The house: For a family of 5, some might find this place to be a bit too cozy, as there’s only one bedroom available to guests (the other two are locked) plus the living room. The bathroom and shower are also a bit cramped, but for us it was fine, no complaints :-) Be aware that if you’re coming for more than a couple of nights, there’s no washing machine. The host: Although Drosoula is very very nice and you can communicate with her daughter in English via WhatsApp. Their response time isn’t super quick. It turns out they live 30 min away. On one instance Drosoula and her husband had to drive all the way over just to turn on the heating (for us it was a plus because we got to meet them in person :-)). In another instance we were all in the front patio when the door slammed shut with the keys on the inside (completely our fault), plus there was a pot left boiling on the stovetop! We tried calling and writing to both Drosoula and her daughter, but it took over an hour to get a response. Lucky for us, we were able to catch the next door neighbour, an old lady who managed to ‘Macgyver’ the door open with pieces of a plastic bottle. Lots of stress but crisis averted!
We are a family of 5, two parents, two teens and a younger daughter. We stayed for 3 nights in mid October. The area: Although we were warned by some travellers that Monodendri is too touristy, we found it picturesque and lovely. Lots of restaurants and cafes. Short drive to some of the most beautiful attractions. The house: The Zagori Home is fabulous, great location and very well kept, fully stocked, very clean & countryside cozy! Check in is quick and easy. It felt very homey! Plenty of hot water. Heating works great. Internet is really good. The host: Drosoula is very nice and she pre stocked the kitchen and fridge with lots of amenities and treats, which was a great surprise. Drosoula also allowed us to check in at 10am, which was a huge plus for us.

AustraliaThe house's location is perfect for exploring the town. The bedroom and living room were cosy and nice to relax in. There is a great little courtyard where you can sit and read outside the house itself, with great views. Overall, a very nice place.

IsraelIn general, this seems to be a typical residense in the area, meaning it was small- small rooms, small kitchen, although larger than others we had, tiny bathroom. 5 people was the limit. Having said all that, there is charm to the place and we managed fine.
We made much use of the kitchen, thank you for that large fridge. We got a nice welcome with cakes and milk. The place is in a central location in the village. It us cosy and warm. The hostess was heplful and always available, offering advice.
