Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongWe were in the room on the first floor without a window, so it was a bit dark. But they have many other rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor.
wifi was very stable and fast. Not easy to find here. Antigua is rather expensive. This place has a great price for what you get.

Hotel Vista al Cerro is the best place to stay in Antigua. The place is absolutely spotless, the rooms are small but comfortable, the breakfast is great, and the hosts are so kind. The WiFi works great. It is in the perfect location to walk anywhere in Antigua. I highly recommend!!

GermanyUnfortunately, I have not read all of the reviews before I booked, because their rating was okayish. But sadly, all the bad reviews seem very accurate. 1. Most important as they have tried to scam other people before (according to the Booking.com reviews). In my room was a broken fan. They claimed that I have broken it and need to pay for it. They were threatening that they reported me to the police already to put pressure on me, which in the end they lied about. Do not pay. They have done this before. Read the reviews here. 2. Upon arrival they want to extort you for a 8% credit card fee which they do not mention online on Booking.com (would be easy enough if they just added this fee on Booking like other hotels). Many people here have reported this already in their reviews. I insisted on not paying it. Also, they were saying that all places in Antigua were charging this. Not one place in Antigua has ever charged me for the use of a credit card. 3. I got a different room with less amenities but still had to pay the same price. They said, the room I booked, was occupied. They also claim on the website that there are rooms with terraces. I didn't have a terrace although I booked it. 4. The room has no windows to the outside, just to the inner building, making it incredibly hot and especially very wet and moist and moldy. The room was stinking disgustingly. Also many things in the room are dirty or broken or almost broken. As mentioned above, the fan was broken. They didn't have AC which I knew before booking, just mentioning it for your consideration that it is impossible to get the air moving. 5. Almost any piece of furniture was sat through, broken or not stable anymore. Not all the faucets in the bathroom work. 6. In general, they seem very rude and not caring. I am so glad that I took photos of everything, incl. screenshots of the conversations regarding the broken fan. They really destroyed my mood on this holiday to Antigua.

AustraliaOnly one shared bathroom, cleaned regularly but had no proper tap to turn the shower on and off. It cannot be that hard to replace a mixer tap. Also this place is advertised as having a terrace, which is tiny and unusable with dirty cleaning rags.
Location was good, price was good.

CanadaThe room didn’t have proper windows but also small skylight, so it lacked natural light and proper ventilation, although fans were provided and were enough to keep the temperature down during the night.
The location is great, we stayed during Semana Santa and it was in the middle of the action. We also appreciated this hotel didn’t spike price during Semana Santa like most do. Pretty spacious bathroom.

GermanyWe needed to share a bathroom. The staff did not text me back ever. They were not supportive organizing a tour to Fuego in advance even they offer it. The airport transport was a scam since we asked for a private transport which was not private in the end. They recommended it to us because of the traffic but we were so early that we easily could have taken the cheaper shuttle.

Czech RepublicWater in the shower was quite cold but after few days spent in Guatemala, I realized this is a normal standard in the country. The staff does not speak English. The receptionist was nice and tried to help, unfortunately the owner of the hotel was not really ok and apparently was giving instructions to the receptionist.
It was super clean and nicely located.

Great value for the money. I stayed in Armenia for one night to catch an early morning flight to Medellin. There was more to do in Armenia than expected (street food, bars). 24 hour reception was nice to make sure that the trip to the airport went smoothly.

GermanyEven tough you can lock the room door, you can't lock the windows towards the corridor. This means that anybody can enter the room. Also the price we had to pay didn't match the price shown on booking as they had a weird conversion from quetzales to Euros. so we had to pay way more.
The location is nice.

CanadaThe smell from the bathroom is the plumbing backing up and not draining properly. It smells bad all the time but is ok if you keep the door closed but then the room gets stuffy from lack of air flow. There was also hair in one of the beds when we got there, so I am unsure if it was from them making the beds or if it was not changed from the person before us. The rooms were very tidy and clean otherwise and made up daily. Unfortunately there were a lot of strong smells sprayed on everything (maybe to cover up smells?) and then on top of that insense burning so anyone with breathing issue may have an issue like my daughter did.
Location was amazing! Easy walking to everywhere we wanted to go! Staff were helpful and used google translate to communicate with me through email and at the front desk. Very helpful and courteous. Arranged a middle of the night drive to the airport and everything went smoothly. The hotel itself is neat because you get to see the inside of the old architecture of an original house and its quiet because there are no windows facing out, only into the indoor terrace. Sound between rooms was ok too because there weren't very many people there while we were there. Breakfast was ok and easy for being included in the price and right there. You get a few choices and it is made quickly while you wait.

What an absolute gem in Antigua. We loved staying in this smaller historic hotel. The owners are so lovely, they cleaned our room every day with new fluffy towels. Great view of volcanoes from the rooftop. Can't speak highly enough of the staff there!

ItalyOur room was dark and sad, had no windows, but two slits high in the ceiling, like a prison, without any glass, so we had a terribile noise from outside, all nights. Room and linen smelled bad. It was difficult to have a shower because a very poor water-jet. There is just one small table for breakfast, just under the reception counter.

United StatesWas woken up a couple mornings around 6, 6:30am due to pots and pans clinking in the nearby kitchen (breakfast starts later, but I believe they were putting things away). The sink's faucet fixture in my room was loose – I had tape with me, so I taped it down (otherwise water could've gotten into the electrical plumbing). The shower didn't drain properly.
