I booked a room with own bathroom but then upon arrival I was told it was only a shared bathroom. Host offered room with own bathroom but with extra charge

It's Chung King Mansion, so expect the bare minimum. The reception is not manned and the number to call staff for check-in/check-out doesn't really work.

Convenient location. Staff were helpful and accommodating if/when you could get hold of them. It's on the 3rd floor so you can avoid waiting for the lift if you don't mind using a filthy staircase down a stinky alley. OK for a solo traveller on a budget.

1. The smell (we bought a room freshener by ourselves) 2. The bed bugs bites (had to get medicine from the pharmacy nearby) 3. The cockroaches in the room (small cockroaches roaming around so had to killed them) 4. The crazy guest who stayed in front of our room, keeep knocking and banging our door at odd hours 5. The owner who knocked and opened our door while we were sleeping asked us to check-out before our check-out date and gave us 10 minutes to leave (had to showed him the booking again, later he apologized but well that's not good enough)

The location is convenient.

THIS IS A SCAM I recently stayed here unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience overall. Firstly, upon check-in, I found the reception staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful. We pay additional 600hkd for each 2 private bathroom. I booked 2 room but transfered us to a 1 room without informing us and move out all our things. The room itself was a letdown. It was not properly cleaned, and there were stains. The bedding also seemed old and worn out, giving a sense of uncleanliness. Overall, my stay here was disappointing, and I would not recommend it to others looking for a comfortable and enjoyable hotel experience.

The room and the toilet was extremely small. This is scam. Better to check in the other hotels. Cos this Guesthouse are way more expensive. You have to pay in cash upon arrival. Not worth to stay! Only the location is good.

The hostel is worse than the pictures I saw from the website.The room is very small and toilet is very very dirty.It's OK to be small room but the price should be cheaper than this.I paid almost like the price of hotels but the quality is not good at all. My first and last time here.

Place and Room could've been bigger but I guess it's a common problem in Hong Kong that rooms are pretty smaller as compared to other countries.

The owner was nice, especially Mr. Jackie is very polite and friendly. He catered all of our requests. The place is right at the centre of Tsim Sha Tsui. You'll find all the Desi Food here, by Desi I mean Indian Subcontinent, you'll find people speaking Hindi and Urdu.

Pictures on booking.com are fake, the room was awful. Dirty, bathroom unacceptable, couldn't even lock the door. The check in was horrible, after waiting for 20 minutes the staff Mr Baba turned up and when finally attended to us, and showed us the 'room' we felt like turning around. The beds weren't real bed, but old/used massage bed with dirty covers, sheet. We were told to leave early next day at 8:30 and they wanted to charge us for a couple of hours for leaving our bags a ridiculous amount. Wouldn't recommend even for an enemy.

Unsafe! Fake photos, real rooms are really really BAD! The room is smelly, not clean, there are insects, there is a sewer pipe right above the bed!!! Fan only works at full speed,, AC is loud and doesn't cool the room. They booked my room for some other guest before my checking out!!! Because I was traveling around for 2 nights, they said we thought you are not coming back!!! They refused to pay me back the insurance afer I gave them the key card 1 hour later! And the manager called his friends to come fighting me!! I ran out of the place with my wife before they come. It's a terrible horrifying experience. I felt unsafe, and that was the worst feeling in my whole life.

Location was great, rooms were clean, front desk staff was friendly. A bit complaint was that the air conditioning unit in our room just happened to be leaking next to/ on to one of our beds.

The low rating is explained, primarily, by two points: 1) the photos are random. It is probably some specifics of local mentality to think that posting others' pics from the Internet gives better credit than actual overview of the place, and tricking customers is okay. This attitude needs to be purged from wherever, and so the rating of the place needs to be dumped to zeros. Important: not for the place itself, but for the lies; 2) the additional 15 tax or service charge will be added over the service charge stated on booking.com. Tried to show several times the booking website with the statement about the price being added already - in vain. Was offered to complain over email to some superiors. Internet was not working, but that is most likely problem with the laptop, others managed to use it.

The price is exactly what you get. For those used to comfort and else it might be a problem, otherwise just good enough.

The staff of the hostel are lovely and will do their best to help you. I had the 4 bed dorm which was nice and cleaned 3 times a day. with air conditioning it was very easy to have a good night sleep.
