On weekdays it is completely self-catered. We were told this and went to the supermarket on the way to the hotel with Walter, but we were still expecting a bit more to be provided, like coffee, than there was. But not a problem, just worth being aware!

Gorgeous location, amazing views of the National Park, mountains and waterfall. Lovely pool area and big communal space. We were upgraded to a larger room for free which was very generous! Walter was great and helped to organise hiking trips and white water rafting, both of which were fantastic!!

Amazing place to stay right in the jungle. The property and pool were beautiful and surrounded by wildlife. Walter was a fantastic host with great communication and even let us borrow his binoculars so we could see the Toucans. The hotel has access to the river where you can go rafting, plus there is a lovely walking trail starting inside the hotel grounds. One of the best places we’ve stayed.

The fridge in the kitchen didn't work and we had to keep moving our things in and out of the freezer to keep them cold. Some of the kitchen equipment was old, dirty and rusty and could do with replacing (e.g. pans and spatulas).

Walter was amazing and helped us whenever we needed it. He picked us up from La Ceiba for 400L, booked rafting, answered our questions and was very kind and friendly. Pepe was a great host and welcoming us into his hotel. The location is beautiful, stunning mountain views, lovely pool, kitchen to use, beer to buy, comfy beds, good wifi, warm showers, amazing rafting tour. Stay for as long as possible!

The room I booked was really small!!

The location is really great and peaceful. The staff are beyond amazing and they will support you with whatever u ask for. The swimming pool is under construction which is shame I didn't get the chance to use it but definitely well located between the trees.

The pool was being updated. The on-site restaurant was closed and the only option seemed to be to purchase food from a grocery store and prepare yourself. No toiletries. Ask for a blow dryer.

Beautiful location in Poco Bonito mountains. Property was built very well. Gorgeous open view from the dining room/ lounge. Rooms were large and furnished very well.

The Hotel Rio is one of the most beautiful places I stayed in my live, Walter was super helpful with everything, he helped us to organize some tours like a walk in the jungle/ el bejuco waterfall, rafting on the Cangrejal river (for both tours we had the same guide Ozny, he was exceptional with all the information he gave us, super interesting). The hotel is just perfect, the decoration of the place, the big space we had for ourselves, the views from it were magnificent with the Pico bonito mountain. A really good place to stay a full weekend, if I go back I would for sure stay there again.

The place could be cleaner, specially the kitchen area but it was cleaned during our stay which we appreciated very much. The location of the kitchen and the dining area; having to go outside and upstairs for food was one of the reasons I did not give this facility a 10. It is a beautiful property and with better care it would be a dream vacation spot. The owner Pepe and the host Walter are both very nice, accommodating and so helpful (thank you Pepe, Walter and Maribel)

The location was very beautiful and serene, once you get to the location., the roads to the location needs work, its a rough road with a lot potholes but once you get to the hotel it’s all beautiful nature. No TV but you don’t really need it because you are surrounded by beautiful views and sounds

The long distance up the mountain is difficult especially if your using any public transportation but in the end is still worth it

The hotel is beautifully located just next to rio Cangrejal and close to the entrance of the national park pico bonito. The hotel offers rafting and are helpful with everything. Walter was amazing and helped us with everything from taking us on early bird watching tours to driving us and walking us to restaurants and the chocolate factory nearby. He has an excellent eye and pointed out amazing wildlife that we wouldn’t notice ourselves. He didn’t speak English and we didn’t really speak Spanish, but we wanted to learn anyways and Walter was happy to help. The toucans were in the garden of the hotel, so if you wish to see toucans while eating breakfast, this is the place. The owner Pepe was also amazing and upgraded our room as well as taking us for a coffee and then to the ferry. The rooms were spacious and clean. Will definitely go back!

My only concern was the road leading up the the hotel. But this is Honduras. The roads needs to be repaired. I rented a truck and it was like driving off road in the rookie mountains back in the USA.

I loved the location, Mountains, Riverside, No noise from cars, Clean mountain air, Beautiful and clean hotel. Great friendly staff on site, The view in the morning and evenings are spectacular overlooking the rivers and mountains and having a coffee. Flowers, Birds, and Water fall was the finishing touch to my perfect holiday.

All the steps up and down the hills are challenging, but I expected that.

Just stepping out of the room onto the balcony is spectacular, with the sounds of the rainforest and the river and the tropical birds flying from tree to tree. And Walter is so helpful with anything you need.

No words can describe the beauty of this place!! So special! Up in the mountains..with the best view, the sounds of nature, a beautiful house with the best balcony. Walter, a local guy who works there went beyond to help us with anything we needed..special thanks to him!! Pepe the owener was very kind also. You just cannot get enough of this place. So many activities are offered as well such as hiking and rafting. Definitely this place is highly recommended!

Nothing to do with the hotel, but there could be a great led options of places to eat at around.

Pepe, the owner of the hotel, and Walter, the hotel manager, were the most accommodating at big people in the world. The hospitality was 10/10 and the hotel in the jungle was in a great location to take in the jungle view. I would definitely recommend everyone to go there and I would come back there myself.

Not exactly a negative but do bear in mind you are in an isolated place and the restaurant only works on weekends. They do let you use the kitchen to cook your own food and there is a restaurant about 1.5k away. When picking you up the driver will ask if you want to stop at the shop. Take the offer, it's the last supermarket you'll see for a while.

Everything about this place is unique. First the location is stunning, in a pristine river valley surrounded by dense jungle, about 20 minutes drive from the center of La Ceiba. The room we got was massive and the beds were super comfy. The tours offered through the hotel are alone a reason to visit: the waterfall hike was hot but rewarding, and the rafting was so much fun! But above all what made our stay so special was the staff. Walter lives in the property grounds and always goes out its way to make sure we had everything we needed at all times, and was also great to talk to. We really didn't want to live!

The view is absolutely amazing. We booked two nights and extended for another two, that's how nice it is! Walter is the best host we have ever met. He goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. We can recommend the river hike/rafting and the hike to the waterfall. There is a small chocolate factory around the corner of the hotel which is worth a visit!
