Everything that you need and more. Very nice clean place with beautiful swimming pool and places to rest outside your room. Garden set up with little Cafe place. Convenient location close to West end bus stop and market. You can rent snorkling equipment on the premises. You can ask any question where to go. The owner was very nice and helpful. I would recommend this place for any backpacker. The internet was excellent 👌

Very no-frills compared to other hostels I’ve stayed at. They also make you pay for the drinking water every time you refill your bottle, which was a little surprising to me. Room I stayed in was also right next to the smoking deck which I would not have chosen if I knew that prior. No A/C was absolutely BRUTAL in the shared rooms- everyone felt like they were dying. Location is also not great- not much to do around Sandy Bay unless you are scuba diving.

Great way to meet people and make friends. Grocery store right around the corner is very convenient.

best part was definitely the people both the workers and the other guests. Was able to hook up with other people to take day trips and find out places I hadn't heard about. One of the worker volunteers even took us around on her day off to show us the top spots. very chill vibe

Sandy bay itself don’t have much to offer and the beach is horrible. But with 0,70 $ you can take a minibus to west end ( until dark) and from there walk to west bay or take a water taxi.

The hostel is just perfect, beautiful garden, lovely people working there, the common area. The kitchen, Supermarket just in the main street. But sandy bay is not touristy so don’t expect bars and restaurants and fancy shops… stay there if you have scuba classes around the place or if you are in a budget and don’t find something cheaper in west end.

The only downside is the location - not as much services and things to do around like in West Bay. There is a garden park within walking distance, but if you wanna go to the beach / diving you gotta catch a taxi/collectivo/rent a bike or car. But there are collectivoa that go to Sandy Bay where the hostel is located, so its not in the middle of nowhere by any means.

Great social atmosphere and comfy surroundings, nice play to stay. Gym and a grocery store right close to it. Kitchen for cooking, a pool. Private rooms were comfortable. My favorite accomodation I stayed at in Roatan and one of the best hostels I stayed in Central Americam

If it’s rainy season the road getting to the hostel on foot was an obstacle course of mud, ponds , rocks

Beautiful landscaping, lots of choices for relaxing, pool, cafe, many different decks, patios, hammocks. Breakfast available freshly made. Mel has a wealth of great advice and information about most everything on island. I felt safe at all times and enjoyed visiting with guests from all over the world.

Bathroom didn't feel very clean, stained walls and floor and no ventilation. Bedroom was a bit dusty, and pillowcases had white stains on them. Some of the kitchen appliances could do with updating as they were quite rusty.

There's a good whatsapp group you can join on arrival for meeting people and planning social trips. Owner had lots of helpful knowledge and advice about the island. Nice swimming pool. Beach, grocery store, resturants, and bus route very nearby. Hostel rents out snorkelling gear pretty cheap.

The property was nice. A variety of types of accommodations. Nice pool and common areas. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. But the best part of the stay was the staff. Owner Mel was wonderful. She went out of her way to address the wants and needs of all of the travelers. She treated everyone as if they were friends or family, and had great local information and tips. She was wonderful in helping plan activities, transportation and connections. It was very easy to connect and coordinate with fellow travelers. All of the staff were polite and helpful, going out of their way to accommodate our needs.

Friendly hostel with both dorms and affordable private rooms. The owner, Mel, and staff are super helpful to help organize anything you need or give information. The hostel group chat in WhatsApp is a nice bonus because people will organize dinners or snorkeling together. Especially as a solo traveler, it makes it easy to meet people. Walking distance to a couple bars and restaurants but outside of the touristy areas of West End and West Bay. Favorites were Blue Bahia Beach Grill, Pirates Den and Cafe 314. At Beach Grill is also Sandy Bay Divers - highly recommended dive shop and they’ll pick you up for your morning dive. Hostel is around the corner from a supermarket and some simple, local restaurants (comedores) that serve food at local prices. Great choice if you want to be a little outside of the tourist areas, but easy enough to get there when you want to.

Dogs can get quite loud at night, smoking area next to the dorm so it can get smelly and loud at night as windows are always open

I really enjoyed my time here - friendly staff and chilled guests. Different areas to relax and hang out and every bed has its own fan so despite the heat nights were not to bad. Its easy to catch the bus just 100m down the road to move around on the island. Good value for money!

    Péssimo custo benefício

English: The cost benefit is only worth it if you want to meet dolphins, as the reserve is 400m from the hostel. Moreover, it is far from the ferry, the cost of the taxi is 20 dollars per person, it does not matter if the taxi is full or only one passenger will pay 20$ each way and 20$ return, so the taxi is more expensive than the stay. In addition, the stay does not accept credit cards, only cash. I suggest to the owner to modify the reception and kitchen hours to at least 11:30 pm, as both currently close at 7 pm. This will help guests to enjoy their stay more, because those who don't want to sleep early can be out of the room and leave the room light off for those who are resting in the room. The kitchen more important than the reception has extended hours, as it is the place where travelers can socialize with each other, share food, make friends, practice languages and arrange to go on tours together around the island. The reception was already closed and I rang the bell for 40 minutes until the receptionist was very kind and already in her pajamas at 9 pm she came to help me with the reservation of the taxi to return to the ferry the next day. I really appreciate her coming to help me out of her working hours. I believe that limiting the reception and use of the kitchen to 7 pm is very bad, because in addition to the need to provide socialization among guests, another relevant point is that in the region there are no shops or fast foods nearby, so you can go to bed hungry if you have bought eggs for dinner. I would stay again only if the schedule was changed because I liked the quiet environment and little hustle. For the cost I would rather be in West Bay. Español La relación coste-beneficio sólo vale la pena si quieres ver delfines, ya que la reserva está a 400 metros del albergue.

English: The location is only good if you want to see dolphins, as the reserve is 400 meters from the hostel. The beach here is not pretty and there is no fast food. In addition, for what it costs to stay in West Bay where there are hotels from $40 with breakfast, where the beach is more beautiful, you don't spend much in a taxi, because here you will spend $40 US per person (NOT BY TAXI) round trip.
