Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumEverything! Very nice and comfortable small family run hotel right next to the beach. Room was just the right size and very clean, air-conditioned. Apart from the normal pillows in bed, you have anatomical ones as well, which I have never seen in a hotel. There's a variety of things for breakfast and the offer changes every day, which is rarely seen. The only downside is the steep and narrow flight of stairs that you need to deal with to access the hotel, but it's Dubrovnik and it's quite a common thing there (the hotel informs about it in detail before and after the booking).

United StatesLots of stairs. 60 to get in the hotel and then 20 to get to your room. I didn’t see the stairs mentioned when I booked the hotel. And my reservation said if changed or canceled then I loose one day of charge. When I mentioned it at check in time the owner did say “If you had contacted us we would have cancelled your reservation without penalty. Nice of them but I did not know about it.
Very friendly staff.

IrelandNothing.
It was my first time traveling solo and I couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay. From the room itself which was perfect for my needs and had a beautiful view, to the very friendly staff who gave me recommendations and was always there to help. I want to say a huge THANKS to all, and special ones for Paula who was very nice to me from beginning to end. I will definitely stay with you again when visiting Dubrovnik.

TurkeyAt first, we booked a standard room. When we arrived, we realised the room was underground with a small window facing stone walls running next to the building. This should be more clearly indicated in the explanations and via photos as well. After our first night, we upgraded our room to a room with a sea view, and it was absolutely worth it! The view was amazing, and the room was spacious.
The hotel personnel were really helpful and kind. They made everything smoother and were there whenever we needed any help. We had an early flight, and they prepared sandwiches for us, which was also very cute. The hotel and our room were very clean. The location of the hotel was just perfect: a peaceful place away from busy tourist attractions, very close to a beautiful bay, just 3-4 mins, and a seaside trail. We loved the landscape!

United KingdomCouldn’t fault them at all
This is the loveliest hotel we have visited. The staff could not do anymore for you, helped booked trips, taxi’s anything we needed. The hotel/room was very clean, we were upgraded on arrival and the room was huge. The location was perfect and everything you need within walking distance. If you’re in Chiang Mai I highly recommend staying here.

IrelandSteps, but the whole area has a lot of steps. A lift would be nice after a long day exploring. Also that one light in the outdoor eating / breakfast area, which blocks some of the view.
The location was perfect, a beautiful view from the 3rd floor. A minute from the promenade and just 15 minutes from old town Dubrovnik.

CanadaI feel we over payed considering the time of year for our visit, it was the end of the season (end of September) Perhaps we should have waited to book this hotel till the last minute as rates were significantly lower on Booking.com by the time we actually got there.
Breakfast was good with many options. The staff were extremely courteous, cheerful and helpful. The location was fantastic, keep in mind if you have mobility issues this is not the place to stay. Take heed of the property's warning regarding the stairs to access this hotel!

United StatesWe were there very late in the season (last week for Art Hotel). It would have been nicer if the lobby bar was open so we could have a glass of wine or afternoon coffee on the beautiful terrace. Also, I don't like it when hotels provide only a bottom sheet and a comforter in a duvet because if you are warm you have no covering. This is pretty common in some European countries so probably just different customs. The steps (like 80) straight up may be cumbersome for some travelers but they did not bother me. Important to note them for others.
The Art Hotel is in a fantastic location on the Promenade in Lapad, about 10 minutes from the old town of Dubrovnik. There are fantastic restaurants, views, a beach, water access and cafe's in the area and it's much quieter. The staff was very kind, responsive providing restaurant recommendations, new pillow options, etc.
