SwedenI loved everything about the stay, I loved the coffee in the bar compared to the one we got at breakfast, so we bought it there, but that was a minor thing. A pet friendly hotel, that I will recommend to everybody. Nice staff as well and the wellness offers were lovely.

We ordered 3 beers, after 30 min waiting, we call again, if they will bring them or not, after another 20 min, they said the bar just closed, as they can not bring the beers. Apart from that, nice hotel, nice location, nice breakfast. We would definitely come back again

AustraliaThe shower set up was strange - no matter how I turned it, the bathroom floor would get wet (yes, even with the glass partition set up). The wifi was sporadic - which wasn't helpful when trying to contact family back in Australia. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room - you had to go to the bar and order and pay for one if you wanted it. For the price, I would have thought they would include it (like other hotels around the world), but apparently its not something they do here. My room was also noisy - I could hear scraping of chairs, people knocking on other doors nearby etc.
Hotel Kaj is located right next to Marija Bistrica town centre. It is a short walk to the Church. Bed was excellent, my room had a view over the adjacent fields. Breakfast was ok, but do remember that tourist groups stay here - we had them both mornings of our stay, so it may be a fight to get anything from the breakfast buffet!

United KingdomThe menus contain references to "vege" food which is a very vague term and depending on who you talk to it can mean so many different things. We would have preferred if the food on the menu was clearly labelled as vegan. We had to query with the staff about the ingredients of the dishes to understand whether something was vegan or not. However, the waiters were keen to answer our questions and get more info from the kitchen staff. Staff would benefit from education on what means "vegan", "vegetarian", "pescatarian" etc. On one occasion we were asked whether we eat cheese or fish after we clearly stated that we want vegan options. On another occasion, honey was offered to us as one of the ingredients for the smoothie. The restaurant makes great vegan food, but we had to check with the staff about the ingredients for every dish we ordered to be confident that we'll get the food free of any animal products. Another thing that could be improved is the choice of vegan options as part of the standard dinner and breakfast buffet and how the vegan dishes are labelled. For example, there was one (and only) vegan dish available as part of the dinner buffet, but this was not labelled as vegan. The hotel charges a flat fee for a buffet dinner and breakfast, but you will not see your money's worth as the vegan offering is very limited comparing to an abundance of non-vegan options. However, I'm sure the hotel would accommodate special requests (as they did with us) and prepare food specially for you if you give them a notice beforehand. We were told that their vegan tasting menu was great but, unfortunately, it's four persons minimum so we could not test it on this occasion as it was two of us.
The entire hotel including the rooms is exceptionally clean. However, it's not the nice rooms and the facilities the best this hotel has to offer but the staff. Everyone we interacted with was so genuinely friendly, hospitable, and keen to accommodate special requests. They truly represent the kindness, hospitality, and generosity of the people of Zagorje. We felt so welcome, and the vegan food was amongst the best we had in the world. The vegan food they served us during our stay was better than what I have been served in a Michelin star restaurant in France I visited a few months ago. The quality and freshens of the ingredients are exceptional. Another positive observation of ours was that they the toiletries in the rooms were cruelty free.

Oasis of peace and tranquility in the middle of Croatian Tuscany, one and only hotel but worth it to rest and recharge. Not perfect but good enough to recharge and revitalize.

CroatiaThere was a wedding during our stay and there were a lot of cars parked in the hotel parking and around. I think that the hotel could have provided/reserved spaces for guests who were there already.
