Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumA bit expensive for travellers that want to keep their budget low, but you are in Dubrovnik (expensive place). So it is totally the best offer you could have in Dubrovnik.
The host and the environment (other guest) were great. And for me is travel all about that, so totally worth it.

NorwayWe were not allowed to use the kitchen because it was reserved for some school group or something. The location is also really bad. Ad says its a 10 min bus ride and its 2,5km but its more like 6km and a 25-30 min bus ride. Staff is also not that friendly

GermanyToo expensive (like Dubrovnik in general) for the offer, in the half outdoor kitchen (normally nice doh) was no tab for water and pictures of do's and don'ts everywhere. In short: a very unpersonal place where some things seem to remain unspoken and the walls rule.
Not much. There was a bed, a shower and toilet. That's it

United StatesI felt as if the staff was trying to squeeze every penny out of me that they could. The manager told us upon arrival that we need to pay about 30 euro more than we had agreed via booking, but because it was cash there was nothing to do about it. I tried typing in the Kuna to Euro conversion and they were insistent it was more Kuna. The private beach access is not really a beach, but a boat marina with very stagnant water that I didn't see a single person in, NOT what I was hoping for when I saw 'Beach access'. The host refused to shorten our stay by 1 night trying to say it's because booking takes the money no matter what, which really just felt very dishonest as he was trying to overcharge in the first place. It is an okay stay, but do not stay here unless you are positive you won't want to leave early, and you like to feel like a money ball they kick around whenever they feel like it. Traveling all over Europe, I felt the most unwelcome and weirdest here. Clean place to lay your head, just know the vibe is bad.
It is kept very clean, and there is easy access to the bus stop.

AustraliaThe entrance doesn't look like an entrance, it looks like a driveway gate. There is no sign on the gate, you just have to push it and you enter an outdoor seating area. There are no signs, other than "Hostel" painted on one side of the building visible from the street. The reception is virtually non-existent. You have to call. I don't have a SIM card so that's not easy for me. I'm dependant of WiFi for communications. The manager tells you everything in a few minutes then leaves you to your own devices, which is okay, but his demeanour does not invite questions. You need to add two bus fares (30 kn) to the daily rate of the hostel if you want to see Dubrovnik several kilometres away. The shower roses have no hook so you need to work around that. The ambience is not what I would call "service oriented". I think we are a bit of a pest for them.
I liked the fact that there was a bar there that served coffee and it was close to the water.

SpainThe place is crazy hot. There are air conditioning machines in the room but not working. Even during the night was hot, and if you open the window to breathe a little bit the room gets full of mosquitos because it's in front of the bay. And we were there at the beginning of June. I don't want to imagine how is it in August. There is no kitchen; one of the most necessary things for a budget traveler (and this hostel is meant to be for budget travelers). You have space for cooking, but no stove. The guy at the reception is never there. Like we didn't need anything from him and you could call him anytime, but nobody is in the hostel, and that's weird.
The price is the only thing that is nice. Its clean as well.

DenmarkAircondition was broken and so was the shower head. The smell was not too good either. At first they offered us the wrong room (dorm) even though we had booked a private room. But luckily we ended up with the right room. Not the best experience. Expensive considering the facilities.

UruguayThe room was way too cold and there is only a very thin blanket that didn't help much. That apart from having 13 people in a room going in and out during all the night made it impossible to get any sleep
It is as advertised, cheapest option in Dubrovnik and next to a bus stop that takes you to the center
