Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWhen I booked this room booking.com said my price includes all fees and taxes, but this wasn't true. When I got there I was told I would have to pay an extra tax in cash. The property management should make sure that their listing does not say that the online prices includes all taxes, and then makes me pay an extra tax.
Acceptable facility

Canadabeds for heavier types could use that extra inch or two. but are quite good for the fast majority. Privacy curtains would be a good idea. it’s easy to do. the tiny bar fridge is stupid. just put a real small fridge for people to store their yogurt and fruit and such! no kitchen, but a decent small fridge still matters.
it’s a small one floor hostel and only up one flight of stairs. it’s compact but functional. small sitting room at reception that works. sufficient. but tiny. rooms themselves are not crowded. and bunk beds are built string in sturdy and each has a night bright night light and functional shelf with power outlet. wifi is typically good. not great for computer use when everyone is present but totally good. the two bathroom shower stalls are comfortably big and water pressure is sufficient. a high top shelf allows clothes to stay dry and changing within shower stall. which is needed as it shares a common narrow passage opposite the two self contender toilet stalks. functional space.

Excellent location from bus terminal. For Dubrovnik prices good value. Carlos who is manager very good. Up before most guests and has bathroom and area clean. Was in 4 bed dorm and very spacious. Only 2 each of toilet and shower but never had a problem. For basic accomadation is in the price range.

FranceA little noise from the street but it is not disturbing at all.
The hostel is next to a commercial center. The bus stop right in front will get you to the old town in less than 10min. It is clean and safe area in town, within walking distance from the bus station and the harbor. From there you can walk up the hill to get a beautiful view. One of the best price you can find in the city. Staff is super nice and helpful.

GermanyI've missed a kitchen to cook and the living room was also small - but cozy.
As in all the other reviews I would like to thank Carlos for being such a friendly, funny and helpful host. He was more a friend than a employee. Thank you for everything Carlos! ❤️ Besides that, the location was great - near the port with a cool view on it. Every toilet had its on sink, that was also great! It was a calm, restful Hostel. Great, if you want to relax! And you had few supermarkets and restaurants nearby, also as a bus station!

United KingdomCommon area needs updating. I would get rid of old sofa and little tables. The small fridge could be replaced with a larger fridge and placed against the wall opposite reception. Counter with draws and cupboard space with crockery etc could be installed where current fridge is with high tables and stools, this will allow a safer area for kettle etc. TV could be raised higher to accommodate changes
Location great on the waterfront, close to main bus station and bus links. Restaurants and shop nearby. Manager Marco was very friendly

Czech RepublicAlthough the room is small, the equipment is relatively complete, and the toilet and shower room are also very clean. The hotel is next to the port and the traffic is very convenient. It is also very close to the main bus station. I booked a quadruple room, the space in the room is relatively large, and the boss is also very enthusiastic.

United KingdomToo basic in terms of facilities. No kitchen. 2 showers and 2 toilets only which means you have to queue in peak times. I paid the city tax with my online booking but was charged again tourist boarding tax (over 10 euros for 4 nights) on my arrival. In my exchanged text with owner I mentioned that I already paid city tax and shouldnt be paying more tourist tax. His only reply was "I will check". He never came back to me.

GermanyThey offer you a private transportation from Dubrovnik airport to the hostel. The owner and the receptionist are friendly and give you so much insider tipps for local food and sightseeing. They provide each people their own locker and you dont need to bring any padlock. Checkin and checkout are really flexible. They always clean the bathroom nearly every time in a day. Every bed has their own lighting and electricity source. You don't need to bring the towel, just rent it for 1 euro only. The accomodation price is really budget-friendly for backpackers. There are many bus connections from the hostel location to the old town. Supermarket could be reached just by a bunny-hop.
