Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdompeople in my room have been noisy and disrespectful coming in late at night. Not the hostel fault obviously but maybe in the future they could do something to make sure that that won’t happen again

United KingdomKitchen closed from 10.30 to 7am, couldn't get water or make a coffee early in the morning. This also resulted in people gathering outside our dorm in the corridor once kitchen closed which made it very noisy at times. My light by my bed didn't work.
Clean dorm and bathroom, very good location. Sociable hostel with lots of activities planned. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Does seem to be the best hostel in the area.

NetherlandsThe noise during the night of glass bottles being put away in the bar/restaurant nearby. I normally sleep like a rock and noises won’t wake me up, but this glass bottle sounds were really difficult to ignore.
The staff is very helpful and welcoming. The location is perfect, right in the middle of everything. The terrace is spacious and a good place to meet people and make friends. They also organise tours and events for the guests, which is a bonus. I would definitely go back.

AustraliaA bench to keep clothing and towels while showering would be really handy as we just had to store our clothes on the floor. I also paid for laundry service and a few items of my clothing came back with some dark stains that I’ve been unable to remove. I had to check out early and did not have the chance to speak with the staff about this.
Excellent location - right in the middle of the old town and very central to plenty of shops, clubs and bars. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very clean, well kept and well stocked. Reception is open till late which is really helpful for a late check in. The staff are also excellent - very friendly and super helpful with directions as the entrance of the hostel was a little tricky to find. There’s a sangria night on Fridays which is a great opportunity for solo travellers to make friends.

United KingdomNo bin in room, (annex)
An awesome surprise when I found out my room had 6 single beds instead of the dreaded bunk beds! The annex was my favourite site and I wish to come back to it the same way. The people were friendly and met some lovely people. The WhatsApp group is a fantastic idea as you're never alone as always someone doing something or activity calls. Met great friends in the process. At first, I wasn't sure if f the annex accommodation until I got upstairs and thought "ouu nice". Volunteers there are so lovely too. Manager was so helpful allowing us to leave our bags and come back to get it at the time of our departure.

FinlandI didn't like the fact that the hostel consisted of different buildings, which are not directly next to each other. The pictures on the booking were a bit misleading, since the place where I had the room in, was only displayed in 1 picture. The most cramped room and only one bathroom with toilet for the whole dormitory room. Rather expensive.
I have mixed feelings about the place. The staff was helpful and friendly, points to them for that. Location was superb if you are planning to check out the old town. Rooms and facilities seemed to be cleaned well. The place was central but quiet.

IrelandA little pricey for a hostel, but that’s Dubrovnik I guess. Worth paying the extra for great location and daily events run by the hostel make it easy to meet other travellers.
Really nice hostel in a great location (I was in the main building). Facilities are excellent. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Hostel organises daily events, so it was really easy to meet new people.

CanadaUnfortunately, location being very central, there is noise until 1-2AM, so if you are a light sleeper, you will have trouble falling asleep. I paid for an 8 person room, but because they had to make last minute accommodations to accommodate my friend and I together, we were placed in a 10 person room, which we did not mind and appreciate, however we were charged the same as an 8-person room. Seeing how the price changes with each additional bed, I would think that the price would reflect that. I was assigned the bed furthest from the door, and I'm not sure if it's different in other rooms, but I did not feel that the air con reached me nor flow of air, so I was a bit sweaty for my stay whereas my friend who slept on the top bunk in the middle of the room, felt cold.
Location was in the heart of the old town, very convenient to walk around. Outside the hostel, there are several restaurants and bars nearby. The bathrooms and toilets were clean every time I used them. There is a terrace available to everyone, though there is not much seating. I stayed in a 10 person room, each bed had it's own sockets and light which was very convenient. Well-established hostel, great explanation of how to get to hostel, lots of excursions and events they run every day, with a very active group chat. Hostel provided towel and sheets for the bed. They are very flexible with leaving your bags there after check out and before check in. There was also a laundry service for 80 kunas which is same day service, though a lot of my clothes came back a bit damp still, but clean nonetheless. Staff were friendly and approachable.

United KingdomIt has several buildings spread over Dubrovnik old town, one (where I was staying) with a very tough climb up lots of steps to get there, especially in the height of summer heat. Dorm was tiny, the room size of the 6 bed dorm would struggle to even fit 4 comfortably (but to be fair space is at a premium if you choose to stay inside the old town). Showers very small also.
In Dubrovnik old town so close to main sights. Organised a free Sangria night. Laundry services available. Beds pretty comfortable.

AustraliaFor the extremely high price there are things I would have expected to be better. Staff member who checked us in was initially absent for about 40 minutes, then took another 45 to check us in and provide rook access. Payment in cash only was disappointing, especially considering price for 4 nights was more than the maximum cash withdrawal at ATM. Regular domestic washing machines were only to be operated by staff for about 10 euro, extortionate given accommodation price when they could just be made free to use. Showers had nowhere to hang clothes or put items whilst showering, and items must be placed on the wet floor. Shower foyer visible from main hallway. Multiple items of furniture on the terrace in disrepair
Amazing hostel activities, the best hostel location in Dubrovnik. Terrace was a great place to relax. Most staff were lovely and very helpful - especially the gentleman (I forgot your name sorry!) Who commutes from Trebinje. Whatsapp chat was great idea and contributed to a fantastic social atmosphere

United KingdomOne of the best hostels I’ve stayed in! I lucked out with my room mates and had the most amazing 4 days in Dubrovnik with them. Everyone at the hostel was fab and it’s location is PERFECT - right in Old Town! Everyone else I met who stayed in other hostels in the city were very jealous of how fantastic Hostel Angelina was! I’ll be back for sure. :)

Great location, staff were really lovely and helpful when I had questions. Everywhere felt clean and there was decent luggage storage in the rooms. I only stayed one night so perhaps my rating would be higher if I had experienced more.

GreeceWould be nice to add some more hangers in the bathroom and maybe a surface to leave some stuff. Also, i feel they could update the terrace a little bit, because the loungers were old and broken and didn't match the overall good quality of the hostel. Some of the beds were more airy, buy mine and others were a little too close to each other.
It is located right in the center of the old town among numerous bars and restaurants and next to the stairs of shame. Bathrooms are spacy and clean and they have towels for your hands that are replaced often. To my suprise a cleaning lady came in the morning, made my bed and gave me a new towel which was amazing. Two sockets for plugging the phone and a big night light. The kitchen is big and they offer free coffee. They have a beautiful terrace and host free events every night.
