Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CroatiaSome items in the kitchen required slight cleaning from our side before use, but very easy to do, as kitchen is equipped with everything you'll need.
Location is amazing; very close to anything you'll need. You can dine out or dine in ordering food from fantastic restaurants as food delivery service is efficient and quick. Accommodation is very good. A classic apartment in an older building with a ton of charm and high ceilings.

United KingdomNegative aspects of "EatPrayLove" type of experience such us: - Unloved communal areas: there was no light on the upper floors, forever barking neighbour's dog, sometimes unpleasant odour, building's backyard used for fly-tipping. - Provisions within the apartment: the toiletries and linens in the apartment were kept locked and had to be asked for. Soaps and detergents outside the lock were old; Zagreb has an excellent rubbish collection system but we had to find and buy expensive bugs as none were available; Balcony with a romantic view on the local church is partly used as a storage for "unloved" items; There was no washing machine or vacuum cleaner. -We arrived at dusk. As the Welcome e-mail containing keylock's security code was sent on the day of our travel we had to have conversation to resolve. Some years back I lived in Zagreb for a period of time and speak Croatian reasonably well. I can see how our 'arrival' could have been intimidating experience for someone who is not able to say the same.
This is a specious, clean, secure ,inexpensively but tastefully furnished apartment close to Zagreb's romantic Gornji Grad. The apartment is on the third floor of a turn of the last century building without lift and has high ceilings, interior double doors , traditional heating stoves. This all adds to positive aspects of "EatPrayLove" type of experience. Apartment is also walking distance to most central destinations, situated in one of the main and busy, but leafy wide roads.

NetherlandsOne roller blind in a bedroom didnt work. Owner said will take care of it. Better to also have a thick curtain like in the living room so that it is dark in the room. It gets early light in the summer and is difficult to sleep.
Charming apartament. In a quiet neighborhood on a walking distance from the city center. Tastefull decorated. Comfortabel. Small balcony to sit outside. Well equiped kitchen. Warmly recomend for a family or group of vriends. Best price quality report.

NetherlandsWe were a bit disappointed with the interior of the apartment itself. The photo's on the website must have been taken some years ago, and do not reflect the actual state of the apartment at the moment. The material is falling off the couch, there is waterdamage to the ceiling of the kitchen and there is some mould in the shower area. There should also be some notes made about the nearby church. I was sleeping in the room in towards the back of the apartment, and was awoken by church bells every morning at 6am, which rang every 15 min. The church is only 110m from the apartment. There is also some loud building works in the area, starting at 8am, even on a Saturday morning. The rooms are supposed to be sound-proof but that is not the case with the church and the loud building works.
We liked how central the apartment was located, close to the tram lines and 20 minutes walk from the main square. We also liked the high ceilings and big, comfortable space. We were 2 friends so we wanted an apartment with 2 bedrooms where we could each relax when needed. The communication with the owners went very well, they communicated with us when we reported an unplanned power outage one morning and allowed my friend to stay in the apartment a bit longer as her flight was leaving later, which we appreciated very much.
