Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe air conditioning was turned off despite summer temperatures in October
The Playa Laguna area is fantastic - beautiful park and beaches with lots of activities (tennis, cycling, boating, jet skiing etc) about a 20 minute walk from the Porec old town. Hotel Mediteran is an enormous mid-price option. Breakfast and dinner were fine, as good as you can expect from buffet meals for hundreds of guests. Rooms a bit small but you want to spend your time outside anyway

PolandNothing really major, but I'd say that the quality of the fountain drinks was a bit underwhelming. Another thing is that if you have a child and need to use stroller (or for whatever reason using the stairs is a problem) - beware! To get to the lobby from outside, you need to use stairs. To get from the lobby to the elevators (!), you need to use stairs... etc. etc. It's something you probably don't even notice but with a kid in the stroller it gets annoying.
Food was very good and there was enough variety every day. Hotel was very clean, has lot's of space inside for the rainy days. Hotel bar/restaurant was affordable (I remember that a burger with fries, coca cola and a cappuccino was 13€). Daily entertainment for kids. Location was perfect!

United KingdomIt would be helpful to guests to have a little information sheet in the room explaining how things work, for example, how do you go about getting towels for the pool - do you have to pay for them or are they free? We noticed there was some kind of card system where you handed over a card and you got towels, but there was nothing explaining the system. This is not a complaint - we could have asked Reception - but a suggestion.
We loved the pool, the view, the helpful staff, the walk into Porec, the tourist train that stopped outside the hotel, the breakfast, the dinner; in short pretty much everything was good. The staff are so hardworking, and yet helpful and polite - the whole place was gleaming clean too. Many years ago we stayed at this hotel, and loved it then - I think it is even better now!

Romaniathere was a problem with the AC, you couldn’t set the temperature properly. I talked at the reception at the first night and the answer was that somebody will come to check it in the morning but nobody came. sometimes it worked sometimes it didn’t (one time the AC thermostat said that it can’t open the AC because in the room was already 17 degrees- that wasn’t the case because outside there were 24 degrees and it was definitely hotter inside) the room could have been cleaned more- the carpet was really stained and the bathroom, especially the shower had a lot of dirt in the grounds

SlovakiaLong queues in the restaurant. Some people are waiting like 30 minutes before starting dinner in the reception/lobby area, waiting for dinner to start - a little weird. Maybe starting dinner 30 minutes earlier could help when the hotel is completely full, which was the case, to avoid long queues. Last available room was economy room for 2 adults. I slept there just with my baby so it was sufficient but the bed for 2 adults must be too small indeed. No fridge in the room. Pool area was beautiful, pool with salty water but not heated as mentioned in the description. Water in the baby pool was too cold for babies.
Hotel is very nice considering it is a 3* hotel, we were surprised in a good way. Dinner and breakfast were very tasty and there was variety of meals to choose, you were always able to find something what you like. The area is beautiful for a morning jog or walk, close to the beach, nice park and promenade along the beach. Most of the beach is made on concrete but you were also able to find spots with small stones / gravel and nice clean water. There was salty water in the pools which is amazing. But the pool was not heated, it was very cold. But at least not many people were swimming in the cold water so in the end it is a plus :)

CroatiaWe didnt like the fact that they put us in room number 82 that is directly above kids club and music stage. So for the family with daughter of 6m who is going to sleep at 18.30 its not very ideal that music is playing on full blast from 20-23h. Choice of food for dinner was very weird we didnt know how to combine main dish with the sides (example there was ćevapi and breaded squids as a main dish but for the side there was boiled potatoes and some kind of veggy mix).
We liked the cleanliness of the room, the bed was very comfortable, pillows could be a little bit better but ok. Breakfast was fine, good choice of food.

HungaryI love this place... No need to say anything bad.
This was our second time at Hotel Mediteran, so that means we love this hotel! The beach is really close, Sea water nice and clean. I love the cared park, gardeners work every day on the hotel's park, plants. There are huge pines which provide shadow against direct sunlight. I love the Hotel's location. Food is perfectly good, so many possibility from which to choose, and nice taste. The Staff really friendly, everyone does their job conscientiously. Pools are filled with salt water. Porec's old town is from a nice coastwise walk, but you can travel with DOTTO (little train) even, which stop in front of the hotel. Every week there is a Gala dinner. So everything was as good as last time!

AustriaWorst thing for us was the staff. All in all it was ok, but there were some exceptions. Once, they completely forgot to clean our room. So we had wet towels, full trash cans and a dirty balcony (after a weather storm). Next time, there was a cleaning woman at the breakfast talking the whole time. I had to ask her three times for cutlery and cleaning a dirty table. She gave us the cutlery without wipe off the dirty table. And the staff at the bar was most of the time extremely slow. We solved it by ordering the drinks at the bar and bring it to the table by ourselfs. Otherwise we had to wait 10-15 minutes for drinks or get the wrong order.
The hotel had quite nice furniture, for example in the lobby. The pool was big enough, the entertainment was quite fun and the buffet had many options.

Fantastic stay, marvelous place with beautiful garden area around hotel, great pool, calm very relaxing atmosphere. Great stuff, clean, specious lobby and dining area with summer terrace. Recommanding deep muscle oil massage at Flavia (therapist) in the hotel. Everything was great beyond our expectations. We payed extra for refrigerator end strongbox , so we felt like in the four star hotel.

HungarySometimes the entertaining programs in the evening were a bit too loud, but they end at 23:00. Some of the guests criticize the food and I admit it can be improved, but it's similar to most of the all-you-can eat restaurants at the same level hotels. There should've been more vegetables and tastier dishes sometimes, but you can always find something you like, specially if you love sea fish (for hardcore vegans it can be hard).
Excellent location with nice woods, great beach spots nearby and a 20-minute walk to the city of Porec. Room was clean (the towels were changed every day) and comfy. Friendly and helpful staff.

SloveniaI was distracted by the huge number of stairs over which it was necessary to carry a baby carriage. It was necessary to carry the stroller three times to get to breakfast. If the guest is a disabled person, I can't imagine how it will go. There is also no refrigerator in the room.
The location of the hotel is quiet and in an excellent location also pool has salt water and is clean. Breakfast is varied and tasty. Stuff of the hotel is very friendly and profesional.
