Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThere was only one bathroom on the floor for 2 rooms (4 beds each) which seemed insufficient. Also they weren't always clean and the was some leakage in the bathroom.
Right in the heart of the city! It was super convenient to get around Old Town from the city. The kitchen was small but super cozy so it was easy to meet other travellers. During the stay, a lot of people were using the single hob to cook, so they replaced it with a double hob, which was super nice! There was also free coffee, cereal, and pasta for everyone to use which was wonderful. They also facilitated a late check-in and the staff in general was very helpful.

United KingdomShower head holder was broken. (Everywhere has the same problem).
Location was on the main street, most places seemed to be at the top of many steps. Also, advised of supermarket and a cheap place to eat. Cheap for old town.

United KingdomThere is nothing really to dislike if you are seasoned traveller . Horses for courses but do not moan at € 40 a night for a private room in Dubrovnik old town .
Location is the beauty of this property . Directly off the main boulevard in the old town .

BrazilThere could be shower gel or shampoo in the bathroom, towels are small (but complimentary). Not much privacy in bed (no curtains). No common space except for the small kitchen, but that's Dubrovnik.
Location is wonderful, right by the gate. Individual lockers, big rooms. Helpful staff.

FinlandThere was some noise when trying to fall asleep and only one bathroom per floor was too little for all the guests there.
I loved how cosy the hostel was. The room I was in was spacious too and you were able to open some windows for some fresh air. The whole place was cleaned daily which was awesome. Loved the location as it was super easy to get to from your day out. Staff was super friendly and the other guests were very friendly too. Would definitely stay again!

ItalyNo elevator. Room was a bit small and old, But overall well-maintainanced.
Less than 1 minute walk from the main street of Dubrovnik old town. Close to Pele gate of the city wall. The room cost was reasonable to the other nearby hotels, but provided clean private room. WIFI connection was no problem, and good reception staffs.

SerbiaSince it is located in the city center there's a lot of noise during the night coming from outside, from restaurants, although the hostel is hidden in the narrow street. The bathroom is shared not only with roommates, but also with people from another room that is on the same floor.
The location is great, close to everything you need to see. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. The hostel is in charming, old house with beautiful interior. It was pretty clean and tidy.

LithuaniaHowever, that extremely central location makes life difficult because of the noise until late at night and early in the morning because of the noisy handling of garbage - trash cans are dragged up the stairs. This is clearly not the hotel's fault. Since there is no AC, the windows are open and you practically live in the noise. I don't really understand why the official page states that they accept money in all kinds of ways, but for more than a year (according to other comments) - they only accept cash. The small common area, which is in the kitchen, has only three small tables. There could be at least one smaller pot in addition. I didn't really understand about the presence or absence of breakfast. Staff said I can make coffee or tea, nothing more. Next, there are unclear markings on the two refrigerators - where is the free food, and where are the guests (guests, of course, with names). When a volunteer worked, somehow it didn't feel very fun. One bathroom per floor is not enough.
The place is great. And otherwise, it's not bad.

New ZealandThe addition of curtains to bed spaces would help to add some privacy. Not under the control of the hostel bit worth noting for the light sleepers...being located in the middle of the old town amongst all the restaurants means it is very noisy til late at night and then again first thing in the morning (~0600). I am a heavy sleeper and the noise woke me up every morning around 6 and at around 2.30 am when someone was washing the street outside. Definitely would advise having some ear plugs. Again to reiterate, not the hostels fault but just an fyi
Location right in the center of old town which h was great for exploring. Room and facilities were great. Bathroom was quite small and got dirty quite quickly once people started showering but to be expected. Check In was good, was able to be moved from a mix dorm to female only as there had been a cancelation which I appreciated. Cereal, milk and coffee available which was nice.
