There was no parking slot and we had to park 800m far. The service was quite slow and there were details missing.

We had a pleasant stay. The breakfast buffet was very good.

The location was incredible. The rooms were perfect - so clean and spacious! The pool was great and the beach area too. The breakfast buffer was one of the best ive ever seen!

The music from the business across the water is suboptimal, but we understand it is not under your control.

This was the fanciest breakfast we have ever had in our lives. Thank you for an exquisite experience.

The parking lot for the cars is well below the standards of the hotel being what looks like empty terrain where a house used to be. It is unmarked parking on gravel, which is really out of place in such a high class location and at such a high class hotel.

From the moment we arrived the experience was excellent, the check in staff were friendly and very helpful and assisted us with parking our car, as the parking area is a little bit tricky to find and identify. The room was beautiful and absolutely huge and we also spent some time at the pool and beach which were both quite nice. What impressed us the most was the breakfast, which was without a shadow of a doubt the best breakfast we have had at any hotel in Croatia and in fact most of Europe. Absolutely stunning!

When we arrived the pool area looked a bit messy. Food plates, bottles, napkins, used towles were all over the place and the guests who had been using them clearly had departed a while ago. Also during breakfast staff struggled to clear tables on the terrace and the pigeons had a feast. Not sure if there was just not enough personal to take care of these things.

Great location, friendly staff, nice property

The path you are walking to Villa Amalia is not so nice because you go up the stairs near huge conditioners, some parkings. Also you can hear some live and very loud music till around 2 am((( There would be nice to have some coffemachine in the room because restaurant is quite away. And the most important thing which really disappointed us was the beach( everytime we came all sunbeds were already booked and we had to go to the public beach. it’s not that far away. but if you pay for the hotel with a private beach it’s not reasonable to go to the other one with our towels, and lots of other things and pay extra money. we didn’t manage to take sunbeds on our beach or by the swimming pool in our hotel during our whole stay(( I came at 8 usually. I couldn’t come earlier because I could live my sleeping kid in the room alone. Hope they will try to solve this problem.

Nice hotel in a good location. it’s very close to all famous places. There is a beautiful private beach with turquoise water in front of hotel. Good and tasty breakfast with Prosecco and amazing views. Our room was big and comfortable.

Slow service in the restaurant and modest menu for lunch & dinner. The wobbly floor in the room was a little disturbing. The building is old, although it has recently been restored.

Very helpful staff, gorgeous breakfast, private beach with everything to relax and enjoy the sea. The location is awesome as you are in the middle of Lungomare and can walk 6 km left or right.

that almost all of this historical hotel got not well maintained or art even over-painted over years. after 1st world war and yugoslavia & not well maintaining of this hotel lost its glance and spirit.

unfortunately this gem hotel got down rotten but the new owner will hopefully rebuild its former glance & will restore fresco's & wall artifacts. so it will hopefully shine again in may 2024. because the location is priceless !!!

It transpired that Villa Amalia is an annexe of Hotel Kvarner. Access from Kvarner checkin is via multiple steps, past overflowing waste bins and “bomb site” carparks. Very unappealing. Fortunately, we found an alternative route to breakfast and the pool, which was going offsite onto the public Lungomare walkway, then back onto the Kvarner terrace. Breakfast on the outside terrace is ruined by mobs of pidgins, scrounging for food, swooping onto tables even with guests present. Extremely unhygienic. Shower over bath becomes an increasing safety issue for older guests. Multiple steps everywhere are a major issue for guests with prams and wheelchairs. Be aware that the beach is not a real beach. You sunbake on lounges on a concrete boardwalk that’s several metres wide, accessing the water via a steel ladder. A significant area of the sea is roped off as a private area for hotel guests.

The Villa Amalia Junior Suite was a spacious one BR apartment, with spacious bathroom, sea views. Use of Hotel Kvarner pool. Private “beach” has clean water, no rocks, and and showers. Staff were brilliant e.g. desk chair and suitcase racks that were missing from the room on check in, were immediately supplied by staff when requested. Huge range of food choices at breakfast. F & B staff tried very hard to please.

Our room was not clean when we entered and we found items from prior guests as well as long hair. We ordered food from the lunch menu which was not only cold but also not eatable (the French fries were covered 50% with some sort of ranch dressing). The room had unstable WiFi.

The best breakfast I had in Croatia. Beautiful, antique rooms. Location in the heart of Opatija with direct access to the beach. Attentive staff, esp at breakfast

The main issue was the parking (so if you are not taking a car then this hotel is ok see below re noise). To get to the parking up the top you have to reverse down a very narrow street and the parking itself is chaos. We damaged our car and were promised a refund of the parking charge which NEVER materialised. There is also very loud music from close by all day and late into the evening. The whole area is very congested and busy.

The accommodation was clean and comfy. The "beach" and pool areas were well maintained. The breakfast and waiters very good.

I am disabled and have difficulty walking, I arrived at the hotel and there was no parking and they told me that I would have to park the car in a public car park 300 meters away. I pointed out that I could not carry my bags and walk 300 meters but they refused to help me and say that it was my fault as I did not inform them of my problem so I had to leave and was charged even the full price of the room.
