Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomA few little things: The property claims to have a spa but this isn’t operational - they should remove this from the description, but it doesn’t in any way detract from a fabulous little property that overlooks the harbour area. The room key cards aren’t reliable and need to be regulars re programmed.
The location was fantastic. The staff were willing to help with everything - all were lovely including housekeeping lady who had to rescue me from being locked out of my room a few times.

The view from our window was lovely but the service at this hotel was what stood out. Although Vrilo is a Hotel Nicco and his colleagues made us feel as if we were being hosted through airbnb - friendly and smiley hosts always ready to help. The location was also perfect!

United KingdomThe staff were a little underconfident. We had had twin beds confirmed, but on arrival were given a double. They DID sort it out in a few minutes, and gave us a suite, but there was a hint of reluctance. The notices in the rooms about throwing guests' own food and drink 'on the rubbish' if placed in the mini-bar seemed a bit hostile. We did not bring our own, and actually used the minibar. But it is not a good look.
The location was good. The breakfast was adequate.

United KingdomThe breakfast was often too basic and we skipped it on most days. The coffee is horrible, the bread was sometimes stale, and no pastries were provided. The hotel staff at reception were rude, not even unfriendly but rude to the point of not saying hello when we came into the hotel or a simple greeting when walking past them.
The cleaning staff was great and the room was big & comfortable. The decor is a little bit outdated but didn't mind it too much. The balcony is by far the best feature.

SwitzerlandThe room was not as in the pictures. The bed room windows were extraordinary small making a he room like a bunker. Although there was indeed a balcony with a sea view, this was not sufficient to make the room comfortable. The shower didn’t have a curtain making it impossible to not get the bathroom wet every time it was in use.
The Location is very central. The breakfast was good and the staff was very helpful and always available.

MaltaNot sure why it is rated as 4 star hotel as it definitely doesn’t deserve even 2 stars. Very basic, no amenities advertised - the pool was closed, no sauna or other facilities available. We were told to go to another hotel to use a pool, but the person manning the reception couldn’t tell us any details, like whether towels would be available. It turned out that you had to rent towels at 30kunas each plus a deposit of 70(!) and the pool was horrible with cheap plastic chairs at the so called pool bar, dirty and overcrowded. Reception staff not trained properly, they weren’t able to provide basic information about the area, or the hotel. Definitely one to avoid!
The bed was comfortable.
