The beds were uncomfortable and squeaky. There is no elevator, and you can get a room on a 4th floor. Another thing I didn’t like was the message from the host, offering us a free night on our next stay if we leave a 10 review. I find that this could create a misleading image of the property, and it is not fair to others.

The location is perfect. The place was pretty clean and the Pollack Garage is close if you need to park the car.

the cleanliness and the drainage system in the bathroom. Also the room could be decorated or arranged in a better way with furnitures and decor. Also there can be a floor mat near the bathroom so that it is not getting wet in the bedroom.

The room was not very clean: towels, curtains and bed sheets had some stains. It was also quite noisy but that’s probably unfortunate because of my specific neighbors

Knowing I was going to check in late, I specifically searched for a stay with a 24-hour front desk. Once the booking was confirmed, I switched my phone off and went to enjoy the famous baths. Fortunately, I arrived at the hotel at around 11pm and only then I checked my e-mails from the hotel asking me to check in before 11:30pm or I’d have to pay additional 30€ for the late check-in. Had I known about this, I would have checked in earlier and then I’d have gone out, so I wish this was mentioned on the booking.com site. Luckily, I didn’t have to pay the charge, but other guests should be made aware of this. Other than that, the stay served its purpose. I used it only to sleep. Others mentioned the absence of an elevator, it is a historical building and they are not allowed to build one. Maybe some toiletries would be nice, but other than that the room was quite clean, the water in the shower was hot almost immediately and the room smelled clean.

The hotel is located in the center in the close proximity to everything. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The older gentleman who checked me in was polite and explained everything.

This is not twenty first century accommodation, the sink drains slowly and the hot water arrives just as slowly - allow an extra ten minutes for shaving, oh, and you will need to bring your own sink plug. The mixer tap had a curious resistance to it as well - the owner must have upset their plumber... At first I thought the mattress had gone suddenly sallow but when I lifted it up I found that the slats in the frame had moved around due to only a few being nailed or screwed in. Add to that the drawer falling out of the rickety desk and I wish I had brought a toolkit with me - except security at Edinburgh airport would not have allowed it within the single cabin bag I travel with. The light in the bedroom was dim to the point of being gloomy, I took to reading things right by the window in the daylight.

Very central (once you come to terms with the layout of the tourist area) but quiet once inside the front door. The inner courtyard is characterful and makes this an affordable stay (round about thirty dollars/euros a night) for a few days. Nice to have a kettle, plate and cutlery in the room.

as the building is very old and historic, there is a very strong smell in the room, the manager put some products to improve the smell, but even so it was not enough, unfortunately it was the only negative point of the stay.

the location is very good and perfect for getting to all the tourist attractions.

The kettle was all dirty inside, the overall state of the room was not the best (with hangers broken, not cleaned to the fullest), the TV wire was too short for the only plug in place nearby.

Great localisation, the room was spacious and had a small fridge inside, the building is very unique with reach history.

Musty smell in bathroom. Hall light very easily set off during the night, which shone into the room, even caused by movement within the room.

The hotel is in a historical building and the interior space is interesting in this respect. The hotel has normal conditions as for a budget hotel, the staff is very friendly, the hotel manager helped me a lot. He is ready to solve issues asap. Thanks Alex

But I cannot close my eyes about the heating in the rooms..(we changed two) they were sooo , so cold :( , we slept in our thermo clothes and jumpers..

The location is great- in the heart of the city. The two receptionists were so polite and friendly. They even shipped us our home keys as we forgot them.So thankful for that.

The room did not correspond to the description in the ad. There was nothing in it but beds, a small table and only one chair. There was not even a glass for water in the bathroom, nor the advertised kettle for heating water. Bed linen is wasted. It is amazing that the laundry is dried on the banister of the stairs in front of the rooms.

The location is very good. The airport express bus stop is nearby. Most attractions are within walking distance.

The staff was very pushy about leaving a good review and even offered to give us a night for free if we left a 10/10 rating. There was a spider in the room and it could have been cleaner

kind of everything else was bad. we told them it is our anniversary and we'd like to have a nice room, but I doubt we got the worst lol. the mattress was very very uncomfortable that made my back in pain. pillows were bad and blankets were very small and short. it was cold at night, the heater did not work. the blankets were dusty with a smell. the fact that the bathroom was inside the room with no ventilation was horrible. no shampoo and the hand soap was actually filled with water lol. the worst kind of toilet paper and very bad towels. I don't know what to describe more I don't recommend this place at alllllllll

The room we were staying in did not have a bathroom attached to the room. It was in the public hallway. We were assured this was just for our use, but there was no lock on the door. The place itself was also dirty, we found what appeared to be toenails in one of the beds, the other had a stain on the sheets. We had to book a new hotel for our stay. It is also worth noting after checkout we received a message saying we could get a free nights stay with them if we gave them a 10 star review, so maybe be wary of the positive reviews.

It's the terrible place I've ever met. There's unbearable bad smell everywhere. Everything is extremely shabby and bad smelling. Linen are too old and unclean.
