Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe Lodge is absolutely beautiful set in wonderful landscaped grounds. We were picked up from the Wicklow away as we got a bit lost. Had a great 3 course meal at night and a lovely breakfast in the garden the day we left. Thanks for the great hospitality.

United StatesNothing was omitted ! It is clear they like the stimulation of meeting travelers, engaging with them, and entertaining.
The hosts at Ballyteige were marvelous ! They oriented us to the property giving us a tour, carried bags to our room, gave use tea for the night and a invited use to a fire in the parlor where other guests were dining. The property itself was beautiful, and magical with an English garden maintained by both Sean and Patricia. They provided a lovely breakfast morning including the day we left early for the airport. They also provided dinner each evening if requested and accommodated dietary needs. This is a must stay for anyone interested in the Wicklow Way hike as well as others interested in the town of Wicklow and surrounding areas. Patricia in a great cook and gardener, while Sean is a very friendly host and humorous story teller.

United StatesI didn't like bothering the owners with requests for tea. It would be nice if they set aside a tea-making area so guests could make their own tea.
The owners could not have been more hospitable - putting down lovely fires, bringing trays of tea, and taking the time to talk to us. I greatly appreciated their kindness. The house has a lot of character. Guests have access to a lovely sitting/dining room. Dinner is available for an extra charge. My room was a good size and comfortable. My bathroom was across the hall. I would have preferred an en-suite but, on the other hand, no en-suite would have been as lovely as this bathroom with a very large window overlooking a beautiful lawn. Ballyteige Lodge has a great location near the Wicklow Way. It is an interesting place to stay. I am glad I had that opportunity. I would happily stay there again.

United KingdomHands down our best experience on the Wicklow Way. It's like staying in a magical castle in the middle of nowhere (no phone reception! Though reliable WiFi is available). Beautiful property with an interesting history - we especially enjoyed sitting by the fire, cuddling the friendly dog. There are also two lovely donkeys and a nice garden to explore. Dinner is available on request and the host cooked us a delicious three-course meal and was able to fully accommodate our dietary requirements (vegan). We will remember this place for a long time.

BelgiumIt was a bit cold in the house, but the extra duvets on the bed made it cosy.
The house and gardens are really beautiful (and have an interesting history!) and Sean and Quilla the dog were very friendly hosts. The location is a bit remote, but that's what made our stay even more relaxing. Sean is also really helpful and recommended some nice walks in the Wicklow Mountains. We even ended up getting engaged during one of these walks :-)

IrelandWish I stay there for longer!
Place allows dogs which is why we chose it in the first place. Considering you are staying in period house that is lovingly restored, this is great value for money and not too hotely. For example there is no TV, or ensuite or kettle in the bedrooms which is great as the rooms are not altered in any way. The beds are queen size and are extremely comfortable. The fact that there are four bedrooms makes you use the reception and dining room for meeting the other guests. Buster also loved it and it was the first time he started playing with other dogs (rescue dog). The owner was interesting and chatty, and wasn't too fussy which made us feel at home. Breakfast is really good esp the scrambled egg. He provides a good spread of homemade jams and fresh bread, and also does packed lunches on request. The coffee is also top notch. We walked around the grounds and forests which was also very nice. It was a great place to stay, underrated for what you experience and great value for the price considering you staying in such a period building that hasn't been altered in any way. Highly recommend!

IrelandThe house was unusual and extraordinary. The grounds were beautiful. The rooms were spacious and attractive with lovely views. The host was great and made us and our dog very welcome.
The mattress was very supportive but a bit too firm. My husband didn't like that the bathroom wasn't en-suite (it didn't bother me).
