We had a fantastic stay, and we're lucky to get a brilliant 2nd floor room with a wonderful window overlooking the garden and castle. The breakfasts were huge and delicious, and we were lucky enough to enjoy the bay window seats overlooking the garden. The location was fantastic, with safe private parking. So easy to walk out and explore!

Super place with lovely gardens and beautiful historic house. Staff was outstanding, friendly, accommodating and wonderful Irish sense of humor. Couldn’t be happier with our stay. We were in Ireland 17 days spent in 11 different places… this place was the best of all!!!

Am not a fan of showers in bath. Difficult to get in and out of and water goes in puddle on floor.

Great location in city centre. Has car park at back. Very cosy and welcoming.

A certain amount of noise from the road, as room was to the front of the building, but luckily on top floor. Breakfast was average. Only option of hot drinks were tea or coffee - all other hot drinks were at an additional charge, even a hot chocolate for a child, who does not drink tea or coffee! The fruit salad could definitely be imrpoved, it consisted mainly of apple and did not really have any seasonal fruit in it, apart from jellified water melon. It was very cold and obviously not feshly made. The muesli was not of good quality - 95% oat flakes. A bit disappointing for a four star hotel. Also, just one type of toasted bread (white). There was no shower gel or shampoo in the vicinity of the bath tub, and the other fixed dispensers were out of reach from there - not practical. Definietly too highly priced for what it is.

The room was a little bit stuffy and muggy. We used the standing a/c but could have had better air circulation.

Breakfast was delicious, great variety and excellent service. Location was very good, easy walking all over the city.

Rooms were a bit too warm, some kind of thermostat would have been helpful.

Staff were super friendly and helpful, making a plan for us when we had an extra car. We also got an upgrade. Breakfast was gorgeous. Everything seemed like great value for Ireland as well!

Super convenient to castle and downtown area. Rooms were tastefully decorated and spacious. Toiletries were superior quality. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was a la carte. Parking was free.

This period property was amazing. We stayed one night while in Kilkenny, and enjoyed it so much that we decided to stay again on our return to Kilkenny. We were given an upgraded room on our second stay which overlooked the back garden and castle, it was just lovely!

I have travelled the world. This rates up with the best. Pure comfort with a feeling of home. The gardens are amazing, the staff are amazing, the breakfast is wonderful. Who needs Dublin when you have Butler House.

Beautiful estate home of Butler family with the most warm and welcoming staff. Easy stroll down to heart of Kilkenny. Breakfast was exceptional--served in a beautiful dining room. There is also a comfortable bar lounge with service until 23:00. Both areas overlook the gorgeous rear garden. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. For your visit to the Castle just walk through the garden gate and presto: you are at the entrance to the castle! Suggest taking the guided tour which really adds to the experience and is only slightly more expensive than self-guided admission fee. Would absolutely stay here again. Free parking was an important bonus for us.
