It’s very old and tired. To the point where it felt quite creepy. Felt quite expensive for what it was.

There were so many steps, up and down, and up again. We decided just to bring a cosmetic kit instead of trying to carry our suitcases up and then down!

Old world, great staff. Food lovely. Brilliant location and good value for money. The breakfast was lovely too and nice to be served to the table.

Asked for a wake up call as we had to leave super early and the lady said no problem they have an automated system which rings the room at the stated time. She also said the porter would call around about fifteen minutes after the call to make sure we were up. We didn't get any call - thankfully we hadn't relied on it - and there was not a soul around when we left. The walk from the hotel to the car park isn't lit

Room is a bit dated , could do with a refurb, especially as it is not inexpensive to stay here. Food and bar prices were also a little high.

The cleanliness of this hotel could be improved. Our bathroom shower was in need of some bleach (or maybe an upgrade?) - we didn't see other rooms, perhaps the hotel is working through upgrades? The bed was not super comfortable - it felt as though it was an older, very firm mattress. It was a minor thing overall, but we were glad to be moving on after two nights.

This hotel has a fantastic location in the heart of Kilkenny. We were within easy walking distance of all the major attractions in addition to lots of food and shopping options. The hotel itself has retained a very interesting character from its many evolutions and expansions. Getting to our room from the lobby involved lots of stairs and about 10 different turns - a fun adventure! Breakfast was served in the hotel dining room on the main level. The menu was well varied, with options for gluten free and other dietary restrictions. Service was excellent both mornings.

Our room was small and pretty rough around the edges but it was clean, it was also a little noisy with other guests and deliveries etc being quite audible at times.

Friendly staff in a good location with accessible secure off-street parking. This hotel is full of old-school chacter and has a good restaurant with a quiet bar area and probably represents reasonable value for money,.

Breakfast lacks choice as not all guests want a cooked breakfast. More choice would have been welcome.

Loved the location of the hotel. The hotel itself is quirky and comfortable. It is an old hotel, and while some of the furnishings and fittings are old and in need of updating, we had a huge, lovely bed which was very comfortable. Staff were fantastic and very friendly and accommodating. Lovely friendly bar staff also. A great location and I would stay there again.
