Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe stayed in the room with the private bathroom down the hall. Because we had to waken several times a night and leave our room to do so, we wish we would have chosen an en-suite room but it was a minor inconvenience….if you get up a lot at night, I would suggest a different room.
The location is wonderfully located within walking distance of everything central to Galway’s town square. Our room was lovely and well appointed. The staff were kind and helpful!

United StatesParking was a bit tricky so we parked at the Catholic Cathedral overnight. It was only a 5 minute walk to park the car for the night.
The room exuded charm, offering a breathtaking view of the salmon weir on the river just across the street. At night, we left the window slightly ajar, inviting in the soothing rush of the waterfall. The bathroom boasted both a shower and a delightful large clawfoot tub for indulgent soaking sessions. As for breakfast, it was simply divine, featuring freshly baked pastries, aromatic coffee, and a hearty full Irish breakfast to satisfy every craving.

SwedenBed somewhat firm, but overall OK. Tiny, but nice looking bathroom. Tricky to adjust the warm water (the temperature varied).
Great breakfast, top quality food and plenty of it! Excellent quality. Very service-minded staff. Great location and we could park just outside, at a low fee (max 2h, plus free nights).

Norway-There should be a little place to hang out for guest, with a sofa , some chairs, a fireplace and a minibar or something in that direction. That is missing. -Did not like the irish pancakes (?) more like deep fried thick cakes with lots of greace. -Also the people who work there should know basic stuff about history of the building and area.
Loved the historic building, the way they kept the old charm, old furniture and all. Loved the quiet location. Loved most of the breakfast. Loved the view!

I arrived late evening and was greated by a most friendly lady who not only showed me to my room but very kindly made me a lovely sandwich and coffee plus brownie. It was most appreciated as i had had a pretty awful journey in torrential rain. The house is lovely gorgeous breakfast and the staff are truly its main asset.

United Statesparking accommodations--street parking is there and you have to get up early to pay but it was not a problem at all.
This place is incredible---beautiful, great location, amazing food, wonderful staff--truly an incredible place to stay in Galway. Alice was so friendly and helpful and accommodating. We had 2 rooms and ours looked onto the river--just stunning! Beds were soooo comfortable--we had a great night's sleep. Tiny little bathroom but very nice. Kids had the next door room and we felt safe and comfortable there. They had the bathroom in the hall which was quite large with a bidet and nice shower. We LOVED our stay here at this elegant and lovely period house. We walked to town along the river and a fun dinner at the King's Head and got ice cream and walked back and it felt safe and fun.

United StatesThe shower was comically small. Seriously on the verge of being unusably small. Granted, I may be a little wide myself (38” waistline) but I could not bend over or twist around to wash and literally squeegeeing myself through the shower door. Really do hope it was just my room, which was otherwise plenty large and quite well appointed. Also, no free nor close parking. Had to find pay lot several blocks away.
Staff was exceptional, very helpful and eager to please. Everyone from the woman who changed the towels to the front desk and table service and chef were just wonderful. Location was good and walkable. Breakfast was great. Room was nice and good sized with plenty of sitting room.

United StatesIf traveling in the winter, know that you may be chilly in the rooms, but dressing appropriately and utilizing the blankets they provide without any issue should appease this.
Breakfast was great. Location was great - very walkable to busy area but still quiet enough to be comfortable. Staff was fantastic.

IrelandLoved everything, the room was stunning, great view, next level breakfast - the breakfast room environment is so relaxing. The staff were amazing from start to finish. We have already recommended the place to stay to locals we met on our visit and family and friends for when they are in Galway. The walk to our favourite restaurant Rouge is 10 minutes door to door which included a romantic river walk. Thank you so much!
