Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandNothing bad stood out, only little things that just come with a little older cottage is the warm water tap sometimes takes a little to get going and the boiler making noise. But that doesn't take away from the allover great stay in the cozy cottage.
It's a lovely and indeed cozy cottage. It's nice and warm and in a perfect location, only few minutes from the beach or shops or restaurants. The host Cathrine is lovely and having scones and brown bread and jam waiting for us was a lovely touch. Also there was tea and coffee, milk and orange juice provided. So everything needed to settle in comfortably.

IrelandThe only thing we didn't like is that we didn't stay long enough. X
The location was beautiful. The cottage was clean well equipped with everything you needed and we had a sea view and mountain view. It was our first time in keel and it most certainly won't be our last. Contact with the host Catherine was very good x and the scones on arrival were beautiful x

United KingdomThe only thing I can think of is the shower head didn't sit in the holder so you have to hold it in one hand while showering. Not such a big deal but did make washing my hair a bit of a challenge.
The cottage was clean and warm. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals for ourselves and the scones on arrival were a lovely touch.

United KingdomNothing. It was perfect.
We loved the cottage. Catherine was a great host who met us on arrival and thoughtfully provided us with some welcoming scones and provisions. The cottage was very cosy with comfortable beds, a good shower and decent facilites. We loved the location in Keel, a short walk to the beach, supermarket and the local pub (The Shark). We used the cottage as a base to see Achill Island with personal highlights being Keem beach and the 360 degree views from the top of the mountain (the one with the transmitters on it). Also, did the Achill Greenway Parkrun (9:30 on Saturday morning). Would love to return!

The cottage is home away from home. I got the cosy feeling as soon as I stepped inside the door. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you could need. Every room clean, tidy and smelling fabulous. Keel beach is just over the road and is stunning. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, such a peaceful place with beautiful scenery and views.

IrelandSuch a tiny minor thing but replacing current sofa with a comfortable sofa would take the place from a 9 to a 10.
Beautiful warm spotless cosy cottage, very warm & lovely beds. Fully equipped with everything you'd need & gorgeous welcome pack left for us. Right beside the beach & a small supermarket & a fantastic little pub The Shark Bait. A great little find, we will be back.

United KingdomMy wife and our two adult sons and their wives stayed. The bedrooms were a reasonable size and the beds comfortable, the bathroom was clean with ample space for towels, etc. The one slight niggle ( and it is only very slight) was there weren't enough comfortable chairs for six adults to relax in after a day on the beach, or after our evening meal. I guess the actual area of the living-room would have made it a bit too cluttered to have added a further chair, but that aside, please, please do not be put off staying here. The "pluses" far outnumber any "minuses" many times over.
Ideal location to explore Keel; very friendly host. Everything was provided - towels, kitchenware, etc - together with a welcoming tray of home-made scones, and fresh milk and orange juice in the decent-sized fridge. Situated less than five minutes from Keel beach, and the local stores, and The Beehive Craft Centre (to visit is an absolute MUST). Ample room for six adults to sit round the spacious breakfast bar for spag bol and glasses of vino.
