How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

there are NO negatives to speak of. ... except, that and this is so minor its not even relevant for most people I'd imagine. There was sadly no WIFI available outside the buildings and sadly due to this being a quiet rural part of the country getting a phone signal is not great. It would be great if when sitting outside having food or wanting to chat, that there could be an extension of the WIFI to facilitate this, even just in the rear of the patio area.
The location is EPIC, so handy for a quiet break, plenty to do and fabulous restaurants with in a walk. The staff were so friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to assist me with a slight vehicular issue. could not have asked for more and absolutely 10/10 for kindness and professionalism. the facilities are great and surpassed any expectation i had. Other residents/ visitors are polite and friendly and maintain a polite interaction when greeting. Absolutely one of the most memorable stays i have had in Ireland and i WILL be booking again. This is an absolutely great place to stay if travelling alone and in need of a few nights break away from life. I cant praise enough.

Location was excellent, right beside the vistor centre to Croagh Patrick. Mary was so welcoming. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Kitchen area had everything with a really nice day room. No problem in recommending this hostel to anyone.

Amazing staff, super welcoming. Good facilities - common room, kitchen and showers Excellent location - Croagh Patrick hike is 200m away, so its a perfect place if you are doing the hike Good area for securing a bicycle as well

There wasn't a thing I could say negatively, the whole experience was fantastic and was our first time staying in a hostel...we are converted 😁
Everything, how safe and clean and comfortable we felt, it really did feel like home from home. The view was stunning each morning for breakfast and the kids absolutely loved the freedom of the living room and all the games . Can't recommend enough

For the price, there is nothing to complain about.
The location is very ideal for us as we traveled for Croagh Patrick climb. The hostel is just a stone throw away from Croagh Patrick car park and visitor centre. We were able to park our car in the hostel the day of the climb. The hostel is equipped with facilities you would need for a self-catering stay, pleanty space for the guests, I must say I was impressed with the kitchen! Mary the owner is very pleasant and very kind to us, she gave us a quiet family room which I requested for my son who has autism. She assisted us in every way she can. The room in itself is very spacious, suitable for someone with disabilities, the en suite toilet has even a bell! My son is very happy with his stay in the hostel so definitely there will be a next time😊

We loved the beautiful and peaceful location of the accommodation which is within a couple minutes walk of the foot of Croagh Patrick, a few minutes drive to Westport, and perfectly located to explore the wider area which is stunningly beautiful. The accommodation itself was comfortable and immaculately clean. First time trying a hostel as a family, and our private family room was ideal, definitely would return. Mary the host was so helpful and a warm welcome from her and her dog Gio was a great start to our break away. Highly recommend a stay at Croagh Patrick hostel
