Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe room and bathroom are small, but has everything you need.
Room looked exactly like the pictures. The location in Clifden was excellent as we were able to walk around and explore the town and grab a bite to eat in one of the many local pubs. Easy check in process. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few meals and even had the kitchen essentials like coffee and tea and olive oil, salt and pepper.

IrelandOverall the property could do with some TLC. The property was described as an 'apartment with balcony' which is a little bit of a stretch for me if I'm honest. You have to exit from the bedroom window onto a small metal balcony - the window is plenty big to exit from but the balcony could do with a good clean! I dropped a ring under the bed and used a small piece of timber I'd found to swipe under the bed and boy the dust and debris that came out, again it could just do with more than a surface clean. I can honestly say the property wasn't dirty in any make shape or form but was just tired and needs a bit of loving!
Location, location, location! This property is perfectly located for anyone wishing to visit Clifden and is a lovely base to explore from. As a one bed apartment with its own facilities, you can come and go as you please! The sitting room was really comfortable and warm and had lovely views over the Main Street in Clifden. Plenty of cups, plates, cutlery etc. Some lovely touches in the bathroom with cotton buds, cotton wool pads, plenty of soap, shower gel and loo roll. The property was lovely and warm and had plenty of hot water. It was very close to a Supervalu and an Aldi so plenty to choose from from groceries. The kitchen was completely kitted out for anyone who wanted to cook their own meals but so much to choose from in Clifden, we ate out.

IrelandThe heating was a bit low for mid February, and water took ages to heat up for a shower.

AustraliaParking was a little remote from the accommodation, but nothing too bad. Couple of hundred metres.
Brilliant location in the heart of Clifden. Room was great with separate bedroom and living area. Very quiet in the evening despite Ireland playing off in rugby World Cup.

United KingdomCouldn't open the key safe - although host was there within a minute to fix that. Hot water was slow and very poor on the day we left - didn't mention to the host who later said she would have fixed if told
Location is fabulous - cross a road to a pub and up the hill to cafes, shops and restaurants - no need for the car

IrelandThere was no breakfast, for those who dont know about the location, providing breakfast will make it excellent. Especially while arriving during night, in search of unfamiliar hotels and restaurants, a snack will add more value to the facility. Please note, This comment is to make the accomodation perfect.

IrelandThe shower is old and a bit awkward in terms of the shower head height. It does the job but make sure you turn on the immersion in advance if you want a hot shower.
It's in a great location, just a 2min walk from the town square. Getting into the property was super easy thanks to the detailed instructions from the owner. The apartment is nice and quaint and the bed was really comfy.

United StatesThe bed could be a bit more comfortable and some updates to the shower would be nice, but doesn’t turn us away.
This nice apartment offers all the amenities of home. Plenty of room and the location in town can’t be beat - it’s on the Main Street but is tucked in a quiet corner.

IrelandNothing really- we were really pleased with our stay. If I could change anything though it would be lovely to have a bigger bed than rooms small double.
Perfect location- right in town. Easy check in and out. Clean room with access to small kitchen if needed. Comfortable bed and lovely soft pillows. Good soundproofing- didn't hear people coming and going. Excellent value for when we booked.
