Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDonal was super helpful and attentive. The traditional wiskey on arrival was such a lovely detail. He warned us of the room being small, but to be honest it had everything we needed. The walls were painted with celtic symbols :) Donal got us a table booked in a beautiful restaurant and gave us good advice regarding where to go and what to see. Thank you so much Donal, it was a pleasure to meet you!

IrelandCramped attic space, barely room to swing a cat. Photos of facilities on the site clesrly taken with wide angle lens. Banged my head off sloping roof several times. Fridge on wheels requires both hands to open. One to open the door and the other to stop the fridge from moving. Didn't like eating food in room where toilet door opens directly into eating area in room. This place probably fine for single night stays, not several as in my case., where overseas visitors may be prepared to overlook it's shortcomings given the location. No TV in room.!! Questions re facilities etc were met with a well practiced smiley reply to the effect 'just as advertised' . Given the number of previous reviews about the the place, he's had plenty of practice! Host gives impression he runs the place on his own terms! Definitely no return visit here. Not worth the money either.

United KingdomThe room is a bit small and you have to be careful with the ceiling especially if you are tall. There is very little natural light coming from a small window. However, the photos depicting the actual size and you know what you are booking for.
Host is exceptional, extremely kind and friendly always eager to help you carrying your bags to the room or give you advice on what to do around. There was cold breafast including milk, cereal, juice and scones. The property is good for a short stay.

GermanyCosy accommodation in a very quiet area On arrival there was a shot of regional whiskey served by the host. Our host explained everything in detail. The room had a window to the side and a view of the greenery. Everything you need was there. Hairdryer, shower gel, shampoo for the morning shower. Tea, coffee, juice, water and a little something for breakfast as well. We slept well and felt comfortable. We can recommend the accommodation. The nearest pub is only a few minutes walk away. Should be done. We had a lot of fun there.

Ireland‘Breakfast included’ was a bit misleading which consisted of a fridge in the room with limited options. It would be more appropriate to forget about breakfast and offer room only. The room was a bit cramped.
Great location, Donal is a great host, very helpful, informative and interesting.

United StatesWe made reservation in March for mid-July through Booking.com and it showed that the room with a king size bed was available, which was what we were looking for. After I booked, I received a message from the owner warning me that the king-size bed room wasn't available and it was a mistake from Booking.com. Since it was only for 2 nights, we decided to take the room with a queen-size bed and fortunately, we enjoyed it. Also if you are looking to connect with the other guests, the setting isn't exactly the best since we are staying in our bedrooms for breakfast. It didn't bother me though.
The room was tiny but had all the comfort and necessities needed and the bed was comfy. There was a small table and 2 chairs for breakfast, a little fridge where our breakfast was stored. We stayed 2 nights, so we had a basket where we put whatever we used, and our host would replenish it. The breakfast was copious with 2 fresh large scones from the next door bakery, butter, milk, orange juice, cornflakes. there was an electric kettle to make tea or instant coffee. Our host was very friendly and helpful. He made our reservations for dinner himself to a restaurant and a pub he recommended us. He gave us good advice in general. He told us how he fixed the place himself and was happy to share his experience.

FranceA fantastic welcome by Donal. A little local drink to say hello and a more helpful guy one could not meet. The beds and the rooms were very comfortable and all three couples were super content with our stay. The head room in one bedroom is a tiny bit restricted but it was a very trivial thing. I would recommend a stay here to my friends

United StatesRooms have tapered ceilings like a lot of top floors in Irish houses, so basketballers beware ;).
Terrific Host. Spotless and cosy. Donal tipped us off to Slane Abbey, just up the road with it's St Patrick connection. Plenty of room to park in the driveway or on the street. Donal is a great source of local information and happy to share it.

The location is amazing. Not too much around it is a small town but very quaint. The place was very nice and the host even made an appointment at a local restaurant when he knew we were coming in late. Otherwise we would not have had dinner. I highly recommend it.
