Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe thing I did not like was not a great selection on the menus. Personal preferences I suppose.

IrelandThe hot tub price was 40 euro for an hours use which I thought was a little bit steep, it was 20 euro up until recently, but to be honest ill still do it again the next time i go so it is still a worth while experience! We took the latest slot for breakfast (10.30am) and on both days all of the pastries were gone so if i had to make any slight note it would be for the pastries to be replenished so that those coming at 10.30 get the same experience as those who came earlier but again, a very minor issue breakfast was delicious.
Glasson Lakehouse was exquisite from the moment we arrived. The decor, the smells, the dog friendly vibe, the views, the restaurant, the outdoor heated pool/hot tub, the activities, literally everything exceeded our expectations. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was our anniversary and they had left a special treat and note in the room for our arrival. Our suite was exquisite and so large with a stand alone copper bath tub, a record player, 2 tv's, a living room with a log burning stove. I could go on! The bed was so comfortable, id buy that duvet and pillows if i could! We loved the chill vibe of people wearing their bath robes and slippers in public areas. Would love to come back in the summer when outdoor bar is open and fire pit is lit!

IrelandWe shoud have stayed for longer.
The overall experience was exceptional from the moment we arrived until we left. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room was fabulous with a lake view and minibar. The beds were so spacious and comfy and we had the added bonus of a deep bath in our ensuite. It was bliss! The food and service in Bonnies restaurant was absolutely brilliant. Every aspect of our dining experience was exceptional. The food was absolutely gorgeous. We at breakfast, lunch and dinner here and both had different dishes on every occasion and we were bot blown away with how nice it was. We had the fortune of having sunny days on our side which only added to the overall experience. The views, walking trails, outdoor swimming pool, golf course, hot tubs, lake activities and playgrounds make it the perfect haven of escapism and offer a chance to enjoy the beauty of nature.

IrelandThe food was ok but could have been better. The bar menu could have been better. From 3.30pm onwards it's only really finger food available such as nachos, cured meats plate, chicken wings etc. This isn't a great alternative for those who don't fancy the restaurant á La carte.
The entire hotel was designed and decorated to a high standard. Very clean, the staff were polite and friendly. The gym was great, plenty of modern equipment and space. The surrounding grounds and facilities provided by the hotel is brilliant.

IrelandFood and drink is expensive but very very tasty. Menu isn't extensive. Golf course takes up a lot of the grounds so not really a walkers destination
Food was amazing, service was speedy and excellent. Room was very large with very comfortable bed. Lots of added extras (at an extra cost). Dog friendly as well. Outdoor heated pool is great and we did golf driving range which was fun

United KingdomA few health and safety issues. Lovely heated pool but no hand rail to support entering or exiting. Again, beautiful old wooden floors but some had quite wide gaps in between and I saw quite a few women getting heels stuck in between. Accident waiting to happen.
Amazing location beautiful scenery. Staff were great couldn’t be more helpful . Quite rural but lovely little village a few miles away and 15 min drive to Athlone.

IrelandDefinitely the staff need to be more attentive. Had dinner in the restaurant, no one ever asked if everything was ok when it was brought down. Portions are small so had to ask for extra chips. Had to follow a girl after dinner to ask her to put it on our room. Breakfast staff the next morning were not much better. The man in Tom’s bar told us how hungover he was and when we asked about the food in there, he told us to go to the Villager or Grogan’s in the village and not eat in Tom’s. Bit strange.
Amazing location and peacefully quiet. The lake is beautiful, as are the hot tubs and outdoor heated swimming pool. We didn’t bring our little dog but there were lots of dogs there, brilliant to see a hotel catering for our best friends. The decor is stunning and the room was huge (king). You can sign into Netflix on the tv.

IrelandThe service was a major let down, staff very slow even though there were plenty of staff on, a lot of standing around looking like they didn’t know what they should be doing! Especially at breakfast, trying to get tea/coffee was hard work! Left standing around for hot tub, empty bottles of water left on steps from previous guests, and when the attendant did arrive he strolled down to us with his hands in his pockets!!
Very relaxing, great amenities, lovely ground for walks, hot tub was fab! Room very comfortable and spacious!

IrelandI got food that wasn't gluten free despite sayinig it. I was so ill that night at 10pm. I asked for the fish and they said that they would have gluten free gnocci - but it wasn't.
What a surprise - it was an amazing place to stay. Loved the decor, the ambiance, the outdoor walks and pool, the view, the bar - so much!!! I most certainly will be back to Glasson Lakehouse!

IrelandWe were woken up multiple times during the night from guests in the hallways to the fire alarm inexplicably going off at 5 in the morning. We both had a dreadful night's sleep. The shower in our room also didn't work properly as the temperature gauge was broken.

IrelandThe only thing that I would point out is that we were told there would be drinks service to the hot tub but no one offered us anything. We later saw other people being served cocktails to the hot tubs so we felt a bit neglected.
The rooms were so comfy and full of character. The record player and records were a lovely touch! My friend and I had the best girls night here, with the hot tubs and the spa it’s such a beautiful place for a break.
