How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

We booked a junior suite and the bathroom I think didn’t match the name. I have stayed in 3 star hotel where the shower was more spacious or atleast had a rain shower.
The location was great. The staff were very accommodating and the meal at the sketch restaurant was beautiful.

The lift didn't work, but only a minor detail.
The convenience location to city centre, the warm welcome of staff and excellent clean room, overall fantastic experience.

It's not something that will put me off staying here again, but when entering the hotel, you pass by the bar and restaurant area before reaching the check-in desk. It was very noisy, even in the early afternoon, and slightly distracted from the atmosphere.
Lovely room with a large, comfortable bed. Extra touches such as a minibar with complimentary drinks and customised chocolate were nice. I was very impressed with the segregated bin for recycling as I feel it is a must. The management clearly cares about guests' needs and strives to provide everything you might need during your stay. The staff were very friendly and considerate.

Only thing our room was on a slant and my mother is 82 and it put her off the room ..

Perhaps breakfast could have been included for a price of over 300€ for one night.
Loved the room, location for easy access to central locations. Staff were attentive and friendly.

Wonderful stay in the heart of Cork, lots of history in the hotel, very nicely maintained, room was extremely comfortable and we had an amazing rest, staff was helpful, also breakfast was delicious, highly recommend!

If there was a down side, it was the view from the bedroom window. However, given this is a hotel in the heart of the vibrant city of Cork, why on earth would you be sat in your room looking out the window?
This is an elegant, sophisticated and stylish establishment that truly lives up to its reputation as a classic hotel. From the moment you pull up outside to the moment you leave the staff are attentive, polite and kind. Nothing is too much for any of them. The building is spectacular, particularly the cathedral like main foyer, and the place is spotless. The rooms are large and the beds huge. With 24/7 front desk service you will want for nothing during your stay here.

The service at breakfast could have been more efficient
It's a very central location. The decor in the hotel is beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff were very nice.

The lack of on site parking, while understandable was a little inconvenient, though the deal at a local private car park was reasonably priced at 15 euros per night.
Great location. within easy walking distance of city centre bars, shops and restaurants. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We used the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Both were excellent.

A small fridge in the room would be great.
Beautiful old building with many facilities. Great location, nice restaurant and bar. Wonderful to have a guest lounge to sit and read in. The Spa was fantastic too.

It was a bit chilly in my room but they brought me a portable heater.and they were very helpful. The weather was cold and wet.

Maze to find room and/or move from floor to floor. Didn't like twin beds that easily moved when sat upon. Bathroom small.
Excellent staff, beautiful historic building with interesting nooks and rooms to explore and discovery history. Especially enjoying the Cedric Douglas lounge. Frederick Douglass lounge. Restaurant food very, very good.

I didn’t know that swimming pool and spar was extra. Breakfast has quite limited options.
