Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe road is a bit busier than expected but it is not a huge issue.
It is a very nice cottage, we felt comfortable and had an excellent time. Some healthy mystery muffins arrived at our door also during our stay 😋 Thanks a million, would absolutely recommend and will be back for sure.

IrelandWe loved our stay at Johnny Joe’s. The cottage location is perfect as a base to explore the island - 10 mins’ drive from various beaches, Achill Sound village, Keel village and lots of restaurants and bars scattered across the island. It’s also conveniently located next door to Lynott’s, a fabulous little bar with live trad music on Friday and Monday nights. The cottage itself is comfy and has everything needed - including recently installed Wi-Fi. It’s really secure, easy to find, easy parking, and the owners Mairead and Paddy are super friendly, hospitable, helpful and welcoming. We couldn’t have asked for more and would definitely stay here again!

United KingdomThe weather wasn't great, so found the property a little chilly. Could have done with a heavier duvet or maybe some extra bedding.
Liked the quaintness of the cottage. Very familiar with Achill so knew the location would be fine, very handy for Lynotts pub!!

IrelandNothing really very happy with stay.
Nice cosy rustic cottage. We used living room mainly seated around flaming stove reading drinking wine sleeping... Their are nice views of beautiful Achill from front of cottage and the cottage is ideally placed for drives on Atlantic Way, and to Dooega, Dugort, Keel, Dooagh, and the amazing Kèem Bay. Paddy and Mairead are friendly warm and welcoming. Mairead's scones and bread are delicious. Lynott's pub next door is a gem and not to be missed.

United KingdomThere was no signal for the TV. I enquired about this before we went as this was also the case for my last 2 visits , but it didn't bother me as it was the summer for my past 2 visits. However , this trip a TV was needed as it was winter , everything shut at 8pm and the nights were dark and miserable so a TV would have been lovely .I saw the houses next door had satellite dishes so not sure why this wasn't rectified even though others had so requested one during the last few months ! Also, we couldnt get the radio working . It would have been nice to have either just to hear the news etc . Also , for the stove there was no coal this time . There was plenty of turf and sticks but coal is much better for heat on the cold evenings . My double bed was very very comfy . But my friend stayed in the single bed room and said the beds were not comfortable and not fit for adults . Other than that it's a lovely cottage and I'd definitely return but only in the summer months . They decorated it with Christmas decorations and a tree which was a lovely touch also.
This is my 3rd time staying here in the past year. It is the cutest little cottage and my double bed was lovely and comfy. Our hosts left lovely homemade brown bread which was a lovely touch . The stove was lovely and warm and cosy .

IrelandNothing! Couldn;t fault it.
Absolutely perfect self catering find!! Cottage was super clean, and exceptionally well stocked with everything you would need for a self catering break. Easy to find , and the key box meant arrival was seamless. Appreciated the homely touches such as mince pies on arrival and the fire being set. The owners even put up Xmas decorations which was really nice given it was a festive break away from home. Irish hospitality at it's best!!

GermanyWe loved it there, the only very small downside was that it is not possible to go for a walk without driving somewhere first. There is no footpath, only the main road in front of the house where cars drive by very fast.
Beautiful little cottage with everything you need! The perfect place for a relaxing stay on Achill. We enjoyed the fireplace and the cosy atmosphere very much.
