Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandWe were a little bit disappointed with the pool as there were swimming lessons on when we arrived to the pool on Friday evening, half of the pool was cordoned off. We just weren't warned about this in advance. There was very little space to swim as a few people were occupying the lanes that were free for guests. We ended up only staying for 20 minutes as we just felt awkward as swimming spectators were also taking up the lounge chairs at one side of the pool.
Lovely hotel, very clean. Ate dinner in palm court, had the casual dining menu and it was lovely

IrelandThe check in itself was long I think we were waiting 10/15mins before we had anyone talk to us. Now the staff were lovely it just seemed there wasn't enough during that time. Then the only other thing I didn't like was the woman's showers in the spa/leisure centre. They could really do with a deep clean and a bit of maintenance; handles broken off the dial on the shower, shower gel broken off the wall and just on the floor and hairs and fluff on the shower floor. In a hotel which offers such a prestige look and feel in other areas it just lets it down. I expected shampoo and conditioner to be also in the showers as is usually the case in hotels at that price.
Myself and family went for one night but ideally you would want to spend at least two nights here. It is in a remote area so the lake and the hotel itself is really what is so lovely about Kilronan. The castle itself is gorgeous and exactly what you'd expect from the pictures online. The staff were very friendly and we asked for late checkout as we couldn't stay for two nights and they kindly let us which was great. The food was lovely myself and my son ate in the casual dining hall and there was a lot of choice which was great.

GreeceThe bathroom needs improvement. Especially the shower was broken and we couldn’t regulate the heating water, so we couldn’t use it. There were some broken towel racks and we couldn’t hang our towels.
Very beautiful and big garden. There are 2 paths where you can walk around the lake and in the forest (all of these are in the area of the castle). Very delicious breakfast with many choices. The dinner was very tasty too. The swimming pool was very nice and the sauna as well. Comfortable bed and friendly staff.

We go to Kilronan Castle every year, for a short break. It never let's us down, the staff are superb, facilities are perfect and it's one the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. Can't recommend it highly enough.

IrelandThe drive there - awful road - this is the only thing that would put me off going again. However I just wouldn't let that be the only reason. I would probably go for longer than 1 night.
The customer service was beyond 5 stars - this is what I would come back for! I wish you could teach it! Hotel and food fabulous.

NetherlandsThere is not much in the area, we were just passing through but other than walking there isnt much to do. You needed a swimming hat for the pool which is fine but as a guest you had to buy the hat and for a one off 20 minute pool visit it seems a bit much. Could provide guests with those for free IMO.
Booked this last minute when doing a road trip, The grounds and building itself are beautiful, They have restored the old castle and blended in the new buildings very well. Staff were great, very friendly. Room was nice, plently room and has that old feel you would want in this building. Food was amazing - we arrived late so just did the more "casual" resturant but it was top notch food and service. Pool and spa facilities are also open to guests. Breakfast was really good. Overall for a last minute booking and find i was very happy
