How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Only feedback would be that there are spots in the lodge where Internet doesn’t work in the rooms. We needed Internet so the kind staff moved us for our second night. Best Internet service was in room 22. Room 1 did not have service.
Lovely staff. Very accommodating. The lodge is well kept and the gardens are beautiful. Also, the continental breakfast was good. Be sure to try the homemade bread. Easy stroll into the main part of town, and very convenient parking on premises.

And the only negative was that you had to use a skeleton key to get in your room. Many people have difficulty figuring out how to use it and it was quite noisy when people came in later at night.
What was described as being a “continental” breakfast was so much more! Wonderful varieties of yogurts, fresh fruit cuts, pastries and croissants, hot cross buns, homemade breads, fresh OJ, wonderful cheeses, ham and breads etc. were a refreshing way to start the day (not too heavy!). Mary (owner) offered us many great suggestions for excursions and lodgings when we left to explore other parts of Ireland. Great dinner suggestion, The Porterhouse and probably the best pub we visited, and all her travels-Reidys! There are so many hotels and B and B’s to choose from, and I think we lucked out beyond our wildest expectations when we landed on the Kingfisher lodge.

The location is great, only few minutes walk from the town center. The host are lovely and available for any advice and help. The facilities are great, rooms and beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is very nice! The free parking is a very appreciated bonus!

The rooms were comfortable with 2 chairs and a small table where we could enjoy our morning tea before heading down to the wonderful breakfast. It was a short walk to all the fun the Killarney had to offer.

Very light breakfast, difficult to find enough food options for one in party with food allergy, however it was a last minute reservation so this may be different for folks with advance notice.
Wonderful property. Very clean and comfortable accommodations. Breakfast was included but very light (pastries, toast, cereal, fruit). Walking distance to everything you need.

You can't make this small gripe better but the rooms were on the smallish side.
Breakfast was great, just what we needed to start the day.

Location was great. Close to Main Street for pubs and food. Far enough away to be very quiet at night. Walking distance Staff gave great recommendations and very very friendly.

Great location! Walkable to town with easy parking. Friendly folks, and super tidy A+++ Everything was perfect! Very restful place, simple continental breakfast. If you'd like a heftier breakfast, it's a quick walk into town. Loved being greeted by Whistler the dog upon arrival in the driveway 🐕

The quarters were super good! The accommodation was super easy to find, both check-in and check-out worked quickly and without any problems, the room was super nice, well-kept and clean, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty with lots of choice. Both owners were super friendly, helpful and welcoming. The whole house and garden were beautiful! We can therefore only recommend this quarter from the bottom of our hearts.
