How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The cooking staff was very attentive, she make a marvelous hoat meal, and pancakes for the children. The localisation was 20 minutes by foot from the Kilkenny city center.

The only thing negative was the lack of water pressure for the shower and toilet. Definitely needs fixing.
The house was incredible with its period setting. Beautifully cared for and wonderfully maintained. Everything Irish we were looking for, coming from Canada. Our room was so pretty and extremely comfortable. Unfortunately we arrived very late at night so we weren't able to see the grounds. The morning brought the view of the grounds from our room and the the front entrance and wonderful to see, even with heavy rain. Having breakfast in that dining room was regal feeling. Such a beautiful room. For breakfast my sister chose the porridge, as per people's suggestions, and said it was the best she's ever had. I had pancakes and felt they were only ok, could have had the same anywhere. I might have chosen differently had we not been asked to decide upon check-in which for us was 2100. Host was welcoming and friendly as it seems most Irish are :)

The wi fi didn't work so well in the room.
The owner was very kind. tried as hard as she could to make our stay the best. Breakfast is good, the room is not too big but still comfortable and very clean. It felt like home.

Bathrooms could perhaps do with a bit of updating and the garden with some general refresh. But it was lovely either way.
Staff are absolutely wonderful and the breakfast was fabulous! The room was comfortable and both room and bathroom were spotlessly clean.

Other noisy guests (not staff fault) Could do with 2 towels per person instead of 1 (& 1 of these to be a bath sheet instead of standard towel).
Lovely helpful staff. Breakfast okay. Rooms comfortable and clean, but perhaps a bit outdated. Could do with a makeover.

I needed good WiFi for a bit of work. There wasn’t any available. The host had a desktop computer available in a public area. That was enough to get a couple of tasks completed.
The property has a few rooms which made the experience feel personal. Great host!

Tiny, very low level sinks with separate taps. Intermittent and at times slow internet connection. A small shower cubicle. The double room was so small that we kept knocking into the bed stand.
Within a short driving distance of the town centre. Spacious car park. Friendly hosts. Nice breakfast cooked to an advanced order. Comfortable beds. Quiet location.

Nice guesthouse.Ample car parking. comfortable bed -The pillowed headboard made it comfortable when sitting up to read etc. Good breakfast. Nice helpful host who gave us ideas on places to visit in the town, a very short drive away.

The owner was very kind and he gave us great recommendations, where to eat and how to get to the center. The center is 25 min away. The breakfast was delicious.

We had a member with mobility issues … forgot to mention this … there were stairs so that was difficult ….. but not the fault of the facility … just something to be aware of. Staff were helpful and understanding about this and worked with us to make things easier.
The room was comfortable , food tasty, Bathroom great once we figured out how the shower worked …. Staff helpful

there was little unconfortable bed. But only one from 5 occupied with our group. The room was not so big for 4 people.
