How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A fantastic warm welcome in Loch Lein country house. I arrived early and was facilitated with an early check-in and delicious coffee and pastries. The breakfast was excellent on both mornings. Would highly recommend staying there for the stunning lake views, but primarily for the care they take of all their guests.

It was perfect
The ambiance, the nooks for sitting and relaxing within the hotel public areas, the incredible staff, the outstanding fresh breakfast, the spotless accommodations and generous linens, the fresh flowers throughout the inn.

No restaurant outside high season, making it a 30 min return trip to town and someone has to forgo the drinks. No kettle provided n room, but you can ask for one and it will be supplied?
From the warm friendly welcome, to the large spotless, spacious cosy rooms, you will experience an outstanding quality experience. Ample free parking, grand, stylish decor, immaculately groomed gardens, fresh cut flowers, the list goes on. The hosts will do anything they can to make you feel welcome, serve you a great breakfast, give you travel tips and look after you. Highly recommend this for travellers with discerning taste!

The breakfast was amazing! Any type of egg you could think off with French press coffee. The pastries were so fresh and delicious. The owners and the staff were so friendly and accommodating ! The view's of the lake and mountains from the front yard, and our window were beyond beautiful

There wasn't anything that we didn't like. It was quiet and clean. Our room was well appointed and we enjoyed every minute.
The atmosphere was serene and the view from our room was wonderful. The hosts were fabulous and the food couldn't be better. We only wish we had more time to stay a little longer. We will always remember our stay.

A beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Paul and Annette were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. Everywhere was spotless and our rooms palatial! The dining experience was first class - both evening meal and breakfast. The stay at Loch Lein Country House was a superb start to our tour of the Ring of Kerry. Many thanks to you both and of course to Johan, who was ever attentive and a great ambassador for the hotel.

Loch Lein Country House is set in a stunning location overlooking the lakes. The room was comfortable and incredibly clean, a credit to their housekeeping staff. We loved the breakfast and the service was great. We highly recommend this beautiful country house.

Lovely peaceful, quiet location. Delicious three course dinner and a cozy bar area. Room was beautiful and very spacious. The couple Annette and Paul were so welcoming to us. We would absolutely stay again!

The gentleman host was a bit brusque in communicating with us and his staff. Everytime we said we were going to Belfast we got a disapproving look.
Very nice BnB, excellent food. The property is beautiful with pretty gardens looking out over the lake (but you could not access the lake). The staff were all very nice.
