Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandIt is hard to contact the hotel by phone. We had hoped to stay 3 or 4 nights but wrre unable to get through on phone and ended upcbooking another hotel.
The breakfast was superb, the ambience was amazing,. Although the hotel were expecting a wedding, we got tremendous attention. It is our favourite hotel in all of Ireland. Although we were originally allocated an up stairs room, a lovely staff member Carieen, I think was her name was so kind and realising my 92 year old uncle would have difficulty with the stairs ,quickly got us a beautiful downstairs room. It made our holiday. We were delighted to meet Mrs Mary Bowe again. To celebrate uncle John's 92nd birthday Mrs Bowe and her staff served us a glass of Champagne in the garden. The male staff member from Lyon drove us up to to the Duck restaurant and even came back and collected us at the end of the meal. The staff went beyond the call of duty. We really appreciated all their care and attention. We had a marvellous time at Marlfied house.

IrelandI can’t think of anything. Of all the places I have stayed in in Ireland, Marlfield is definitely my favourite
We stayed in a villa beside the lake & what a stunning setting surrounded by nature. The Villa was exquisite, beautifully furnished, very roomy & filled with natural light. The exceptional weather helped & we enjoyed the lovely walks & stunning gardens. Dining was superb, the bar for lunch, the beautiful Duck restaurant for dinner & the conservatory for breakfast. I could not omit to mention the amazing staff there. Everyone we met were so welcoming & friendly. They are to be congratulated for the fantastic work they do & obviously enjoy. The resident dog, Ziggy is such a cute little guy too.

IrelandThe selection of white wines in the Duck restaurant consisted of just old world wines with nothing offered from New Zealand or Chile. Also, what was available was limited enough, which took away from the dining experience.
The food presented in both the Duck restaurant and the conservatory the next morning was excellent. The overall atmosphere in the house was comfortable and relaxing, reminiscent of staying with a generous relative who has allowed you the use of their home for the weekend.

Irelandnothing. it is perfection. even the rain pouring down outside and the wind of Storm Franklin howling as we ate in The Duck Restaurant actually made it even more beautiful to be inside in the magical surroundings of The Duck eating divine food and being looked after impeccably.
My stay was flawless from start to finish. I couldn’t compliment each and everyone of the staff enough for their care customer service and professionalism.

Irelandnothing we didn’t like
we stayed here for my birthday on the 10th May. absolutely beautiful… the surrounding, gardens, stables, pond were all beautiful ❤️❤️and spotlessly clean throughout the staff were so friendly and introduced themselves so we met the lovely Savannah on arrival and Dawn on checking out. we were delighted to be there for the Birds of Prey display where we met Wayne and his three birds, Parker, Lucy and Willow - two hawks and a barn owl. I’ve travelled and worked around the world and lived in the Middle East for 12 years so I’ve seen a lot but this place is just stunning. we will definitely be back. thank you all so much nuala & Declan Ralph
