Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandHaving to leave!!
Everything, the quirkiness and cosiness of the lodge was amazing. It was so remote and peaceful -the best sleep we have had in years! Marion and Declan were such welcoming and warm hosts, and the added touch of homemade scones was a real treat! Looking forward to visiting again!

IrelandBeautiful remote location to just switch off, a whimsical place with great attention to detail in the cabin. The kitchen was really well equipped. There was lots of places to sit and the covered deck was lovely to have breakfast in or sit and have a cuppa. Not many places you can truly switch off, although wifi is provided, it was much nicer to chill and read a book here. Also great to meet the people staying next door from us. We didn't see a car on the road up and the walks around here are truly some of the best landscape and scenery this area can offer. The nearby Glen bar was a also a great stop for a pint and live music.

We liked the welcome, the ambience everything about the place. If you like modern soulless chain hotels this is probably not the place for you. Our group loved it. Clean, well-equipped in a stunning location.

IrelandNO complaints at all. The cell service in the area is a challenge if you're travelling and need to check in but that's easily fixed with a quick trip the main road. Host provides a 4g hotspot which was plenty for our needs. I recommend this as a place to get away not to stay connected.
We're familiar with the area so the roads and directions were no surprise though could be to some new to more remote townlands of Donegal. Wonderful property well off the beaten path. Super cozy and quiet. Wish we could have stayed longer.

IsraelWhat a wonderful place and hosts. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with warmth, openness and baked goods! The chalet was built with their own hands and while a little basic, it was exactly what we wanted. The drive to the farm is past wonderful hills and lakes and we would have loved to spend many more days hiking the area, it left us with a desire to come back and visit Donegal for longer. It should be noted that there was barely any wifi reception which we needed to plan our route for the next day but with a little persistence we were able to connect for long enough for this purpose. In the evening Marion and Fiona gave us a little demo on their fiddles and we were very grateful to hear about their lives in Ireland and the centrality of music.

United KingdomIt was quiet, right in amongst nature with the owners pet ducks and Pablo, the dog roaming around. Full washing facillities available and we were greeted with some scones, butter and jam.Marion told me how to make nettle soup and we tried some of her nettle and chocolate mint tea. Our dog Sienna loved the place as well. There were also plenty of books to read and internet available.

IrelandIt’s a magical experience to stay at Meadowsweet. We felt like we could have been a million miles away, it is breathtakingly beautiful inside and out. The hosts are fabulous people and made us feel so welcome, they make the experience that bit more special. We will be back with our children. It is so ideal for families, couples or lone travellers looking for ultimate peace and quiet. It really is a gem.

United StatesJust a heads up, it's not a quick drive into town, so have plans for dinner whether it's driving out or cooking your first night. My wife and I enjoy doing things ourselves so it was great for us! But a bit of a surprise how DIY the stay would be based on the booking description. It's not a bad note, but be aware if you're expecting a typical hotel stay. The most accurate description would be found directly on the hosts' website.
Service was over and beyond. The couple running the lodge were right next door and provided firewood, instruction on the appliances, and checked in on us when a storm took out our power. We were even given fresh scones the night we arrived! It was a great place to slow down and take in the nature around you away from the busyness of the cities. It was also nice to have a kitchen so we could save money by cooking our own food. A snug & cozy space.
