Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicMary and Raymond were the kindest people we've met so far during our Ireland trip. Check-in went smoothly, the room was clean with comfortable heated beds. Bathroom had towels, shampoo and shower gel and overall very pleasent experience. We had an irish breakfast with tea and coffee, which was delicious. If I ever visited Ireland again, I would definitelly stay at the Moate Lodge. Raymond also gave us a lot of tips and info about interesting locations near there. We recommend the Lodge 10/10!

IrelandThe lack of signposts to the house. I arrived after dark but not such a problem during daylight hours, perhaps. If you have a satnav that can find places based on postal codes, type in: 'R14 YH60'. No other gripes.
Once I arrived, after a little difficulty, everything was 'plain sailing'. I parked near the front door. My room and ensuite were very satisfactory, if a little small. Wi-Fi available. Plenty of storage space for clothes etc in my room. Tea and coffee making 'facilities' were on the landing near the room door. Cost of staying (cash on arrival) was good value. Breakfast was very tasty in the conservatory at the rear of the house. No problems to report. (Note: I'm not a fussy visitor - it's all very subjective!) I would be happy to stay here again. Recommended.

United StatesMy stay at Moate Lodge was great! It’s a beautiful, old (18th century) stone farmhouse on a working farm. The hosts, Mary and Raymond, are very welcoming, friendly, and helpful, and the full Irish breakfast was delicious. I would gladly stay again!

United StatesWe should have asked, but we had a hard time getting the radiators to get warm amd heat the room.
The farm was neat to see and hear about. The authentic house from when our country (US) became a country was neat to learn about and experience.

PortugalWe unfortunately arrived rather late and the owners were understanding and accommodating. Breakfast was fresh and very well made. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The owners were friendly, welcoming and we had the bonus of having their grandchildren being present who were adorable and eager to show their knowledge of the farm. Overall a wonderful stay.

GermanyEverything was ok.
Mary and Raymond restored this old house to a B&B. It is a beautifull, cosy, old farming house. We stayed in a room upstairs with a 2m broad bed, our own bathroom. We had everything we needed. When you look outside the windows you have a view over the golden fields, that are around the estate. It is quiet, no sound of cars or noise from the city. Just sparrows in the morning. Mary gives us the best tip for Dinner. The auld Shebeen Bar and Restaurant. On a sunday evening the whole Pub was singing together, we have met a lot of friendly people and had conversations we will never forget. Thank you very much. The breakfast was healthy with oats, fruits, toast and selfbaked bread, butter and marmelade, coffee, tea and fresh orange juice. Everything we needed. It is an old House with a lot of love and details in it, wich makes it unique. It was our last Night in Ireland, and it was the most comfortable night.

United StatesRaymond and Mary were the most lovleyist of hosts! We had a very late check-in of close to midnight due to our late flight, yet they were gracious to allow us to stay overnight. Enjoyed a full Irish breakfast. We didn't have time to walk around their property, but as a working farm, was a beautiful place.
