Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI think the Staff were busy with some renovations and things, so weren't about for some minor questions, nothing that couldn't wait. No towels in the accomodation.
We had an upgrade from our booking to a larger 2 bedroom accomodation. Lots of facilities in the kitchen area, tea coffee etc. Very quiet at night for relaxing. Close to Lucan, very short car/taxi ride

GermanyWe are a family with 2 kids including a baby who crawls. So we chose to remove the rugs who needed some cleaning, cleaned the floor ourselves, and ignored the spiderwebs in corners. We got a heater which did a good job to keep the space warm. The floors were still a bit cold. The bathroom was the big minus for us as it was a wet bathroom, floor being wet and cold all the time, it wasn’t pleasant to use. The owner said he is working to install floor heating. I think in summer it should be less of a problem. This is not your traditional “hotel”. It’s a mix of people living there, holidaying, working there, or simply needing a bed for the night, which is great if you feel comfortable with it.
The location in Lucan, the big garden, the dog & trampoline, the nature around. The property has potential and I think they are working to improve the place. Kind owner who tries to help as much as he can. The room we got was the one at the back of the property, separate from the house. Great as it was spacious, we had privacy, we were independent, could park next to it. The beds were really comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and clean. We had access to a washing machine outside which we could use.

GuernseyWith the description on the website we were expecting a private kitchen and it was a shared kitchen, a floor below our bedroom. There is no name to indicate the property but it isn't too difficult to work out its location.
Location is perfect. A house within a nice village with a beautiful land all around and at the same time easy and quick access to the motorways. Pedestrian access through the property land to the village was convenient. The friendly dog and the trampoline were two added bonuses. Wifi and TV worked well too.

United KingdomThis is a beautiful old house in good order but although this does not in any way impact the level of comfort is a little frayed around the edges. Wifi is ok and although much better than expected, not as quick as it could be.
Beautiful house, set in a wonderfully picturesque garden close to Lucan. The room was very comfortable with a great bed and good shower/bath. Great having access to the shared kitchen which saved us some money not having to eat out every night. The host is also lovely and it is great to see the work being done on the outbuildings which will when done be a stunning addition.

United StatesThe depth of the step in tub/shower. However, they provided a step for me and were very accommodating. I wished the shower head was higher.
It is an old estate being refurbished. Very clean, very well updated, access to cooking facilities, beautiful setting. Easy walking distance to Lucan ( I did not rent a car). I loved my two week stay. Each room had a small microwave, small fridge and teapot.

United KingdomSome tourist info brochures and maps, ideas for days out for the foyer would of been useful. The kitchen could of done with more attention/supervision - I completely appreciate it is difficult with shared space and building works in the yard. Some users forgot to clear their food away before leaving and leave the place clean and tidy behind themselves. The bins were often full and the kitchen sink in need of more frequent cleaning. However - on the positive side, the cleaning materials were there, so any bothered guest was able to get whatever to their own personal standard. I also believe that if we flagged up these observations something would be done immediately about it.
Very friendly and helpful. On the first day Sean gave us a lift to the bus stop we needed to use to travel to Dublin and show us the shortcut. Despite of being very busy, he found time to talk with us and share his knowledge of the country. Initial issues (sink in the bathroom draining slowly, heating needing adjusting) were dealt with immediately. The room and bathroom were clean. Small fridge in the room was very useful. In addition guests have access to equipped shared kitchen. The location was secure and very peaceful. We visited in February, but I can imagine what a delight the garden will be in the summer. The very well behaved dog Cullen provided my daughter with entertainment. Well placed to serve as a base for car trips into the country (major roads short drive away) and bus rides to the city (bus stop 15min walk). I would not hesitate to go back, it felt very homely! Thank you Sean!
