Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere seemed to be an unfinished feeling. E.g. no seats in the stunning grounds to sit on. Bit of a lack of organisation. I asked for a menu for dinner but it didn’t come. I then found there should have been a room directory but I didn’t have one. There was no housekeeping. Some hotels tell you in advance that this will happen. It’s good to know. Especially if it’s an expensive place.
Gorgeous grounds. Great shower. Lovely breakfast, especially the wheaten bread!

IrelandThe only thing amiss is a vegetarian option on the cooked breakfast offerings. A vegetarian fry offering potato bread/soda bread, savoury pancakes, vegetarian sausages etc. in place of bacon, egg and sausage would have been a nice option.
Rockhill House is a beautiful country house in a great location. The rooms are full of period features, character and old world charm. There are lovely drawing/sitting rooms where you relax in the evenings after having a meal in the nearby 'The Church' restaurant. We found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming and would highly recommend Rockhill House for a relaxing weekend. We will certainly return.

IrelandI was asked at check in if we had any allergies which I then advised I was coeliac. Staff at breakfast were so nice but had very little knowledge of gluten free options. I was told there were no pastries just gluten free toast. The menu isn’t clear, nothing dictates that it is gluten free. I asked our waitress and was told everything could be made gluten free so I was delighted and ordered pancakes. After about 10 minutes she returned and I was told pancakes couldn’t be made gluten free, the only option was a full Irish so I went with this. My full Irish consisted of 2 eggs, 3 slices of bacon and fried potatoes. It was very nice but definitely not a full Irish, missing some items. Definitely an area that let the property down and could be improved. Being a coeliac isn’t a choice unfortunately. Also tea and coffee being served from flasks wasn’t ideal. A little pot would have been much nicer. Not something you expect from a property of this calibre.
The room was absolutely beautiful, I have never slept in such a comfortable bed. I didn’t want to get up! Receptionist was very warm and welcoming at check in. The property itself was just beautiful, the interiors are outstanding! Our room was immaculate!

United KingdomWe were asked about was there any special event while we were staying. It was my partners birthday but it wasn't mentioned. Just wondering why the question is asked just a small query
Everything was superb as usual. Colleen in the spa was so nice and went out of her way to talk us and helped with a future booking. Grace was really helpful with sorting our wedding plans and questions

The place is stunning, design, centerpieces, sculptures, furniture…it’s very classy, aristocratic and with attitude. Smell of wood in the evening which comes from fireplace, relaxing atmosphere, calm people with good manners, for a moment I felt like in the Victorian era movie.

United KingdomUnfortunately, Front-of-House is let down by pure customer service. For example, no one there, at arrival or leaving. Bar prices change depending on who served you. This is just a wonderful place let down with a few simple things that need addressed Also, please upgrade the napkins in the restaurant. The paper ones are just so cheap and in keeping with breakfast room in the main house.
The house is just fantastic, decorated to an amazing standard with small touches of classical themes on every turn, and totally could not fault the beautiful premises.. outstanding 😀 Plus.. lovely thoughtful food gift, left in our room, as it was my wife's birthday. It was really appreciated so much.😘

United KingdomHanging space for clothes in the bathroom & somewhere to put your toiletries etc. Breakfast was lovely but only wee niggle was that the tea & coffee were in canisters, I think it took away from the grandeur of the location, individual teapots on your table would have been much nicer.
Beautiful location. Courtyard rooms were absolutely stunning, beautifully decorated. Super comfy beds. Lovely little touches like the coasters, glass & bottle of water in the bedrooms. Food in the Church restaurant was fabulous. Staff were all amazing, especially in the restaurant.
