Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesPretty far off the beaten path. That’s also a plus though.
Gorgeous old manor house. The staff is lovely and accommodating. The chef is fantastic- the food excellent. The views are of the lakes with swans and other wildlife in abundance. Definitely an old world charm vibe - felt like we were visiting friends who live in the country.

IrelandPool area had no towels when we arrived in the evening and was a little unkempt from the day's guests. Lack of cosy seating areas after dinner -only two couches get the nice sunset view and otherwise it was just hard chairs. Our room was on ground level so we had to keep the curtains closed as it was busy with people walking past the window as it was a sunny day; the bedroom door didn't seal at the bottom so we could hear everyone in the hallway (and them us, so not great for a romantic getaway!), and the bathroom door was very loud and difficult to close. I was a little disappointed that we were not offered any upgrade as the rooms above us were empty and I overheard that several guests were there on vouchers (and in the nicer rooms) when we had paid full price...it just made me feel a bit of a mug! If you are booking, definitely ask for a room upstairs with a window seat, they looked amazing!
The location is stunning right on the water and the tables all get a good view in the restaurant. Excellent food and cocktails. Friendly, personable staff and a very relaxed, homely atmosphere. The outdoor sea pool was lovely and warm (compared to the sea!) in the early summer sun.

United KingdomBe careful near the water in the gardens as it is extremely slippery and I actually fell and I am still sore!!!
We particularly liked the dining room and the view. We own the Fastnet Hotel in Schull in West Cork (Instagram thefastnet1) and we are very honoured to having been ranked number one in Ireland by the Irish Examiners Travel editor’s choice: Tom Breathnach's top 10 stays of 2023. We have sent several of our guests to Screebe House and they have not been disappointed.

IrelandWe found the hot tub a little cool in the evenings for us but with proper management and keeping the lid on during the day this should be an easy fix, it was roasting in the morning!
Bed was massive and very comfy, staff were lovely, especially Simon, Orla and Michelle! Thanks for making our stay so memorable. Great treatment with Deirdre too.

IrelandWe had no hot water in our room for the duration of the stay. It was a skeleton staff, and they did the best they could - we got hot showers over in the spa rooms.
Staff were excellent. Very cosy - unbelievable bed. Food was superb. And we got an upgrade to room.

IrelandUnfortunately our room was not cleaned during our three night stay as previous guest took key with them. Communication around this issue was poor. The handle on our bedroom door came off so we had to ask reception to come out and let us out of the room twice. There was no hot water on one afternoon in our bathroom. Staff were very apologetic around these issues and took something off the final bill. We would go back to Screebe House again despite these issues.
The dinners and breakfasts were excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The setting was fabulous with beautiful views from the bedroom and dining room.

AustraliaThe descriptions regarding the amenities are outdated - there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms and there is no bbq available for use as indicated on Booking.com. This was quite disappointing as we stopped off at a butchers on the way to Screebe House and bought some meat specifically for a bbq dinner which we then had to throw out.

The owner even took the time to write out some of her favorite local sites to explore. Make sure to eat at their restaurant as well as enjoy a beverage while sitting by the fire in the lounge!
