How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

This is a lovely B&B with several rooms, located at an easy 10 min walk from the pedestrian street at the center of the city. Room was small but totally OK for a couple, with anything you would need. The hosts were very nice, attentive, and the breakfast was really good. Highly recommended.

Bridie and George were fantastic hosts. Breakfast every morning was cooked from scratch and delicious. They helped us get reservations at the busiest best restaurant in Galway. They were compassionate, kind, and made our stay unforgettable. The room was clean, cool, and dark, even during the heat wave. The room had a standing fan, which was a huge plus. The Sli Na Mara is just a short walk from everything Galway has to offer, but is far enough away from the center for quiet, restful evenings and mornings. We loved everything about our stay at the Sli Na Mara.

I can't think of anything that could be improved.
Bridie, the owner, was exceptionally friendly and informative. She made us feel very welcome, provided lots of information about the local area, and was super flexible - adjusted breakfast for our early departure. The location - a very short walk from the city center, the prom, shops, restaurants - was perfect, and although it was centrally located, it was very quiet and peaceful.

We had the most pleasant stay with Bridie and George. Their home is perfectly situated in a quiet neighborhood only a 10 minute walk to the main hub of Galway. Plus the convenience of having parking, a lovely breakfast, and a super clean room made it one of our favorite places to stay on our trip. The highlight of their home is Bridie and George who are both incredibly friendly and helpful. They emailed us right after we left that we had left our passport in their place and then went ABOVE AND BEYOND to overnight it to us in a completely different part of Ireland. Could not recommend Sli Na Mara more!!

Couldn't have asked for more welcoming hosts! And the breakfast was delicious. The location is perfect as you're off the beaten path but close enough to enjoy the city. Plus, being less than ten minutes from the beach is the best!

Nothing it was all great!
We could not have been cared for any better than by Bridie & George. Our stay was at the end of a 3 week trip and we were a wee weary. Birdie showered is with so much love and concern....it revived my spirit! Thank you Bridie! The location was convenient to groceries, ATM and a resonable walk into the center of town where the resturants, pubs & shops were. Our room was small but comfortable and very clean. Breakfast with great coffee got us going for our days adventures! We will remember our stay at Sil Na Mara as its become apart of our wonderful experiences!

George and Bridie were wonderful hosts. Check-in was a breeze and the location of Sli Na Mara had us into the center of Galway with a short 15-min walk. We were at the end of our holiday and craving something other than pub food, and Bridie had the most brilliant recommendation for us. It also showed us a section of Galway we wouldn’t have stumbled upon on our own. Great stay, would definitely book again!

Bridie the host was just lovely. Incredibly warm and welcoming, and so, so helpful with recommendations and advice. She went above and beyond to help us a couple of times. Breakfast was tasty and satisfying. The room was comfy and perfect for a few days.
