Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The cottage is spotless and has everything that you need, a lot of thought and care has been given to ensure a comfortable stay. Location is perfect. United KingdomThe large clean and bright shower room is slightly let down by an electric shower that is quite weak. Otherwise this property is a 10.
A silent and conveniently located cottage with high quality furnishings and a cosy warm feel. Easy parking and plenty of space inside all rooms. Luxurious accessories such as designer mugs and the very best premium branded appliances in the kitchen

IrelandJust be careful parking and driving out. Drive in and tight to the door and then back car between house and outside wall and you'll be fine.
Excellent location for Sligo and Strandhill. Dog friendly. Very very clean. Brilliant TV, Netflix. Excellent heating and lovely touches with the milk, bread, tea, coffee, biscuits and all the essentials. Beds, linen and couches are all very very comfortable. This is my second time staying here and I love it.

United KingdomIt was hard to find. No name on the property. We arrived around 7pm and had to ring the owner to guide us to the cottage. We felt he was a bit short with us, as we were later than expected. Despite having informed him, via the site, that we didn't land until 17.35 in Knock. Perhaps the information didn't get passed to him? If we were being really picky, we would have really loved a bath, rather than the disabled wet room. But that is only a preference. The parking is right outside the front of the cottage on quite a busy road. The owner said that further parking was possible on the opposite side of the road too.
The cottage was very clean, comfortable and had all the equipment you could dream of. We would definitely stay here again, and we have recommended it to friends.

United StatesThe house is very old and has an old house smell. Not much that can be done about that. Parking is a little difficult if you're not used to driving in Ireland. I thought it was okay, but it made one of my friends a little nervous.
Very spacious home with great amenities. Daniel has a very helpful and detailed guide book on how everything in the house works. We were only here 2 nights, but I would have been happy to stay longer. It's a short drive to Strandhill, Queen Maeve's grave, and other local attractions. Nice pud walking distance down the street.

IrelandNothing I could think of
The accommodation was spotlessly clean, equipped with everything a family would need, from kitchen utensils to a large tv with Netflix and Disney+. The decent back garden was great for kids and a morning coffee too. Beds were very comfortable and the living room was big enough for a family of 5,so everyone could find a space to relax. Welcome pack of sweets, crisps, bread and milk was great too, so we didn't have to think about it on arrival.

SwitzerlandWe booked the cottage to have a base for our sightseeing tours around the North West of Ireland and it was absolutely perfect for that. The cottage itself was lovely and with all necessary amenities and than some more. Where else do you discover upon arrival that everything for a perfect Irish/English breakfast is in the fridge! Washing machine/tumbler and dishwasher just everything was there for our use! Thank you very much Daniel
