Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThere was noise at night, if you go on the weekend, people staying at the hostel usually go out partying and make noise when they come back, it is important to take this into account if you share a room, as in my case a roommate vomited during the night. There were also people screaming in the common areas. Other than that the facilities are very good and it could have been just bad luck in my case. Nevertheless, the value for money is good.
The hostel was very clean, with a very good location, very complete breakfast and charming staff.

Canadahad a lot of dirty older men in my room that snored as I was the only female at one point I didn’t feel it was very “mixed”
loved the location right by the bus stop, very very clean, rooms were always cleaned in the morning and the common area as well always hard at work, loved the breakfast spread so much good food, beds were comfortable as well

United StatesI thought my room was going to have 4 beds not 2 sets of bunkbeds. But it is a hostel not a motel.
Snoozeles is right in downtown Galway. It was by the bus station which was important to me since I was taking bus both to and from Galway and would not have a car. The community areas were clean open and light.

GreeceThe only negative thing was that breakfast was poor and plates/spoons/glasses not clear at all, with food residues on them.
The hostel was near the coach station and train station and only 5 min from the Eyre Square and city centre. Staff was friendly and helpful with everything we needed. Rooms were quite comfortable with ensuite big bathroom/toilets and everything was clean.

ItalyI have a few small complaints: the balcony was full of spider webs, they were really a lot! The second is that there was no wardrobe or anything else where you could put your clothes in, that would have been useful!
I loved the position, the fact that there was water and tea available 24/7 and the kindness and politeness of the staff. Also the fact that there were plugs and lights really close to the beds. The view from the room was also really good.

United StatesI dont usually stay in hostels, but I would stay here again. Around the corner from the coach station, friendly staff member on duty all night for late check-ins, very good breakfast including fresh fruit and pecans. Guests of all ages - many seniors.

GermanyJust a bit too pricey
Great staff, amazing location just outside the coach station and 3 min to city centre. Breakfast was good and "included" but you pay 10+ £ more than in other hostels. Anyways, you can always use the kitchen, take fruits and make yourself coffee or tea. Beds were very comfortable with curtains and you had enough power plugs including usb outputs for all your devices.

United KingdomThe location was very central. You are right by the square, so very easy to get into the main town. The breakfast was very good, had a few options of cereals and breads. There wasn't too much noise at night and we had the window open on the main street.

CanadaNot cheap. Small things: Just one fresh fruit was available at breakfast vs the afternoon/evening before. one had to ask for the herbal teas at breakfast that had been out the day before.
Very clean. Spacious clean relaxed sitting/breakfast room. Nice fruit , teas, hot choc. all the time. Good security. Quiet.

IrelandThe room was spartan, and really could have used a small desk or table; even a nightstand. But this was only a minor inconvenience, and does not affect my opinion in any significant way.
The location, staff, and value could not have been better. Breakfast was included in the price, which added a lot to the value. It was probably the first hotel i stayed in where I didn't miss their breakfast even 1 day. The place also had a lot of amenities that were probably very nice, but due to my schedule, I was unable to make use of. Definitely a top choice on my next trip to Galway.
